Some more of Tim's unusual playing cards...
A deck of playing cards that includes a reflecting metal cylinder. The design on each card looks very distorted, but each card also has a small circle printed on it. Place the reflecting cylinder on the printed circle, and look at the reflection in the mirror. The curved reflective surface creates the proper image from the distorted anamorphic image printed on the face of the card.
A deck with round cards - they look a little like beer mats. Each card has the value printed six times around the edge, and in different orientations, so everyone around the table should be able to see the face value of each card clearly.
A deck of cards designed by an artist friend of Tim's, with animals on each card. There is a kind of Noah's Ark theme, although some of the animals went onto the ark in twos and some in sevens. Here there are three tigers, four giraffes and so on.
There is a proverb which says 'Every Jack has his Jill'. Someone must have come across that and been inspired to create the 'Jill' deck. This has 14 cards in each suit, so for every Jack there is a Jill!
A set of plastic cards, which is washable, so any sticky fingerprints can be removed. The cards are partly transparent.
Finally, a deck of cards designed by four artists; each artist designed all 13 cards from one of the suits. Tim demonstrates the diamonds, which is a riff on A Rake's Progress by William Hogarth.
