AS an artist i do have to say that this is in fact a very good way to achieve a good understanding of the anatomical structure ( not only of human but animal also ) . From the exaggeration and contrast of shapes you can and will gradually understand the logical of mechanical movement and proportions, and will eventually narrow down the correct proportions. Very good.

the arm at 1:40 is extremely good. whenever i attempt to illustrate in a similar fashion by invoking the same 3D shapes, my illustration just appears to fail outright. i don't achieve form in my work, let alone style via confidence in my lines etc. you did this effortlessly. i feel like i am following in the same steps, but i'm missing something essential that will truly lift my illustration to achieve a sense of strong 3D form.

@dutchyben1777
@dutchyben1777 4 жыл бұрын
@@EmergeVS that's what i'm doing, but i'm trying to see if i can improve my method of practice by doing it more intelligently. there's no point in practising aimlessly for hours, and you end up doing most of the exercises incorrectly as a result. i'm in the position where i want to fix up those small issues, and then continue practising further, but i'm stuck because i can't seem, with precision, where i am making further mistakes.

How do you teach yourself all these things? Do you read books on it or do you just figure things out while drawing? What's the best way to go about teaching oneself things? and this is not only for anatomy but also for environment drawings. I ask this because you seem like the best person to go to and since I'm not really taught any of this in my art college the other option would be to buckle down and teach myself. Thank you for your time!
@AdobadoFantastico

Practice. Action is the best teacher. Look at it the way people practice sports. You practice playing the game, but you also practice individual pieces and break down your strengths/weaknesses to better assess which things to practice. Make full works, and do small practice exercises to help you do a better job at those full works. Look at how professionals make things. There's a lot of prep work that goes into figuring out whether they're even able to do what they want. They don't just assume they can/can't. They break it down into pieces to answer questions a few at a time.

Anguel Roumenov Bogoev thank you for the helpful info. Do you by chance have any tips on note taking? I’ve been teaching myself through books and there’s this one book that’s very technical but also requires you to do the things in it (which I do) but at times I feel that I take notes without ingesting all of the information. Should I take notes while reading (which I’ve been doing), finish a chapter then take notes on that chapter, or finish the book completely then go back and reread the book?

Sorry to bog down in the technical; I really DO appreciate the message and goal of this video. But are you drawing in Photoshop or Clip Studio? The delicacy of the line makes me think the latter, but I'm always willing to be surprised. ;)
@LilChuunosuke
@LilChuunosuke 4 жыл бұрын
I'm fairly certain it's Photoshop. When he selects the drawings to put a slight gray tone over it, it looks like he's using a magnetic lasso tool. Not to mention, a little trouble bar usually comes up when you select things in CSP and I didn't see that here.

MDJ: all artists use reference Kim Jung Gi: I beg to differ.
@DrummerRF
@DrummerRF 4 жыл бұрын
The joke is not funny because it isnt even remotely true. Kim Jung Gi is what he is exactly because he got good by drawing from reference. He just doesn't use reference lines m but that is something completely different
@KreativeHogwartsLegacyGUIDES
@KreativeHogwartsLegacyGUIDES 4 жыл бұрын
gi has been drawing using references for decades, its just that he was not allowed to draw, so he drew in his mind, which made his visualization and visual library amazing. this is why he doesnt need them references anymore, since they are in his head. he wasnt allowed to draw when he was in the war, look it up. also he draws nonstop because its really fun to him. its obvious he'd get good as fast as he did..
@dungofrungus7659
@dungofrungus7659 4 жыл бұрын
That's because KJG has internalized the reference, he also still studies references all the time. Sick of this retarded attitude on the internet that "he doesn't use references so neither should I" Too many deluded beginners spending too much time drawing from imagination and getting nowhere. Go watch and read actual KJG interviews.
@DrummerRF
@DrummerRF 4 жыл бұрын
@@dungofrungus7659 i think people are confused about the term reference because its often stated that he doent draw with reference but people are referring to reference lines/construction lines.
