@@AnaWallaceJohnsonYou did a great job narrating this video! I'm sure your trip was awesome. Count me jealous. 🤢 So it's been over a year, have you or are you considering another long road trip? I'd like to hear about the food you ate. Did you have any: Scrapple or eggnog or Mexican Frozen ice cream bars or maybe elephant ears which is a deep fried pastry perfect with apple butter. Or yummy croissants? Please read the book Miles From Nowhere by Barbra Savage, you won't be sorry

Loved this video!! Especially because I think many people have a perception that certain states are less literate or don't have much of a bookstore culture (especially in the wake of all of these book bannings/library protests)...but seeing these stores running in small towns and all of the "banned books" sections and merch is really awesome!

This is the trip of my dreams... Used book stores of America! I am from NM, and in Las Cruces there is a huge used book store called Coa's, where I've manifested some creepy book every time I've been. I think of it like a magical bookstore. If you're ever in southern NM, I recommend. Don't forget to eat your green chile while you're there :)

Paka Ana ! Awesome video ! You reminded me of my second trip to Quebec. I met there an online friend who loved books, and we matched and have been great friends ever since. On my next trip, we visited pretty much all Quebec (up to the tip of the point of Quebec, on the Atlantic coast, facing Europe) and we visited ... 37 bookstores ! and I bought .. my God 73 books ! Never bought that much again. I've also since been to the English speaking ones with tons of American books .. Now I'm much more serious. I have to record my video to show what I've bought in September. And the amazing bookstore I've visited in Oregon (not on your video). I've just realized by watching your videos that I've been to 19 out of the 22 States you've showed. Not too bad for a European ! It looks like Oleg and you had the best time ever ! My sister has told me that we drove around 6,000 miles in September.

Was this road trip based around your visits to bookstores? That is exactly what I have in mind and I already plan many of my daytrips around visits to bookstores. I am envious of this road trip of yours, but am happy to see you had a great time and now I have a greater idea of quite a few bookstores across the country and seeing some of those that you enjoyed. I have visited many in my home state of New Jersey, plus a few Barnes & Nobles and Posman Books in NYC and Philadelphia, as well as Joseph Fox Bookshop in Philadelphia. I know that Vermont has some 20 bookstores and a list of each of them. It was very smart to incorporate them onto your trip and I may want to visit just for the bookstores alone! I bought books in Gettysburg, but I believe it was centered just on the Civil War rather than general history like For the Historian. They also sold books at the main site. I have been to quite a few places that also sold books. A friend of mine and I have visited an antique store quite a few times and I have acquired a few books from my visits. I saw this when it was first released and I told myself I HAVE to watch it and so I did. Thank you for sharing! -Josh
@AnaWallaceJohnson
@AnaWallaceJohnson Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching, Josh! I had no major plans to see any particular bookstores on the trip, but it's the easiest way to see a small downtown, so it just started to evolve into a book based trip. I know there are so many more iconic bookstores to see, so another trip must be planned 💫
@LiteraryGladiators
@LiteraryGladiators Жыл бұрын
It's my pleasure! Sometimes a good trip just turns out being good due to other reasons such as finding great bookstores. It is amazing how bookstores continue to thrive, even in a world where online shopping is becoming the big thing. I would much rather visit a physical bookstore than go on Amazon. There are so many trips that can be planned just around book shopping trips. I would like to plan one of my own! :D
