👉The Anbernic RG Nano is vertical Gameboy inspired design, sporting a 1.54" screen, better SOC than FunKey S, MP3 player, up to PS1 gaming, a new 60hz update, and now with Fast Forward, this might just be the best tiny we've seen in a while. As with many of these smaller handhelds, we need to know: will it cramp your hands? Is it just a novelty, or a true portable powerhouse you can enjoy anywhere?

It's cute! Bring the price down by $15 and I'd buy it, but given I already have a few handhelds already, I'll pass on this.

The Nano is not my cup of tea, too tiny but I'm glad it's the handheld for those who like it. It seems many people are excited for the Nano and the ones that have it are enjoying it. I definitely can see many people purchasing this Nano, not hesitating to spend $65 on it. Currently I have and prefer my 280V as my favorite micro handheld.

I am getting eyestrain & hand cramps just by looking at other people's videos! Miyoo Mini is as small as I can manage and only for short play sessions.

Got mine and I love it. It's just a cool gimmick of having the power of a PS1 in the palm of your hand being so tiny. Plus it's relatively cheap all things considered (triple A games nowadays cost $10 more than this) so all in all I was happy with my purchase.

I will say, Anbernic's entire line of handhelds for years have always had the best packaging. I love how simple and clean the boxes are, and how they're form-fitted to fit like a sleeve similar to most smart phones. Most handhelds have a bunch of random eighth gen screenshots and popular video game character renders in some cheap foldable cardboard box, I hate that crap.

I've had the RG35XX for a couple of months now and love it so Anbernic has won me over with their products and quality already. The Nano has appealed to me since launch just because of the audacity of how small it is 😅. However I was on the fence about getting one but succumbed to its appeal and bought one this week. Wow what a little powerful beast it is and my goodness with headphones plugged in it has superb sound with plenty of bass which I love. I went back to the RG35XX to compare headphone sound and the NANO thrashes it. Another little touch that I didnt realise is that the USB-C port on the NANO glows when charging 😊

@@retrohandhelds I love it, it’s not ideal for all games because of the small controls but with slower paced, less manic games where quick and successive button presses are not necessary it’s a great little gamer ☺️ The Metal slug family of games is my favourite on it ☺️

Can you upgrade the firmware by adding the update to the card by connecting the nano to the computer via usb cord? My pc doesnt recognize the sd card on its own and wants me to format. But i can access the files of the cord via the nano plugged in

I'd love for Anbernic to make a metal RG35xx or even a 353V. But I'd prefer a simple design with no analogs.

Having used the GKD classic I have to say a metal vertical handheld doesn't excite me as much anymore 😂

I just got my RetroMini yesterday, and It's perfect for playing GBA games on, but I would never want to play any game on a screen any smaller than the RetroMini's. The Nano is a neat novelty, but if I wanted a novelty handheld, I would get a FunkeyS before a Nano.

This is great for Gameboy, Gameboy color, game gear, neo geo pocket, neo geo pocket color, and pico-8, because all of those systems have gigantic text that you can can very easy read. Pokemon usually only has 3 words per row. This is the ultimate device for Pokemon Crystal, Prism, and other great GBC hacks.

So far it has been a nice handheld to keep in my jeans' pocket watch space. I can take it out on a 15 minute break without spending time going to my locker. I just wish it had an oled display so maybe the battery would last a little longer, and it wouldnt be so blinding when i try to play in bed

Anyone have suggestions for games? Thinking I want to keep to a smallish library with this, maybe some pick up and go puzzle games, 1 or 2 RPGs to keep on to encourage using it regularly

turned based RPGs will be your bread and butter for such a device like this, considering the buttons are too small to be able to play fast paced games comfortably. So games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Lunar, DemiKids, Pokemon, Chrono Cross, etc. would work well.

I have the Nano. I would say niche product. It's has good build quality and the controls are okay. As long as people know that they buy this one for novelty and not as there 1st or main emulation device then it's worth it.

I feel like most people who dismiss this are not really thinking about its use case. This is not a device you play games on all the time. It's a device you have with you all the time that plays games. It's a "trip to the bathroom at work" device. It's a"trip to the grocery store with your wife" device.

@@Shigarui Even then, you could get away with playing JRPGs one handed with this thing. To me the whole point of this device is having something fashionable. Something that just looks cool to pop out of your pocket and use in public. That's why they gave us an adapter for wired headphones and such, so you can use this as an MP3 player in public spaces, but also still play a random game or two whenever.

@@ShigaruiThere's several devices that fit the bill of being with you all the time, 35XX or Miyoo fit that definition for me and are actually useful and functional. This is basically expensive ewaste, but if people see value in it, no judgment here.

When it comes to ANBERNIC, the only console from them I'm interested in at the moment is the Win701! A 7 inch display handheld is the only thing ANBERNIC has not done yet. ANBERNIC has pretty much done everything else including micro sized handhelds. That's one of the reasons I have no interest in the Nano. Before the Nano, I had no interest in the FunKey S.

Box art for most of them?! No. Lol only like the first 10 maybe 15 games for each system. Then the next 700 have no thumbnail lol

So as far as the dpad, if they improve it, it won't be an Anbernic product anymore? 👎 If there's a better dpad, I'd rather see them use it. I don't like when the directions aren't clean.

In my experience it's accurate. It's just that the dpad is so small that's why there are some miss clicks. You wouldn't want to play Megaman and Contra on these but if you like playing moded roms then you can have fun with those hard games.
