Today we head to Roosevelt Arizona to Explore 700 year old cliff dwellings created by the Salado people, then we take to the skies with my drone to search for other cave dwellings nearby and additional remnants of the ancient civilizations that existed long ago.
Many different cultures settled here over 700 years ago, and you never know what you could find!

That drive up to Young is one of my favorites. I've seen ringtails, snakes, jacks, bighorn, deer, elk and antelope on that drive...all in the same day! IMO It's one of tge best scenic drives in AZ. I was just out there a month ago and got my 4runner out of storage and made that drive. Up further adjacent to Workman Creek and Reynolds creek there are uranium exploration mines. Some of them pretty substantial. There's fern beds on top of the mountain and we surprised a deer and a cow elk resting in them. hmu if you want to explore some. It's definitely 4x4, and a really capable one, required trip.

Yes! exactly! drones are so helpful, can you image how long it would take me to make this video if I had to hike to every single one of these caves? probably take me months lol, but I'm grateful that I have a drone that can take us to these place, thank you again for tuning in and checking out the video 🙏

Tonto does not allow drones (unmanned aircraft). Be careful, watch out. On your comment of wars, not quite correct. There was massive infighting with the Puebloans with some sects practicing cannibalism out of Chaco. The Hopi were particularly ruthless (e.g., Awat'ovi massacre) and the Navajo and Zuni- well everyone- we're "pushed" into overlapping territory causing much contention. Hence the over 18,000 documented archeology sites in the 4 corners. Then there are the Spanish massacres and aboriginal retaliations. One site in New Mexico, we screened several lead balls. It does not help dating but certainly evidence of Spanish then Mexican violence 500 years ago from 1539-1700s. This was no Utopia. That said, your vivid aerial views are nice to see- when we documented the Gila river canyons in the 70's we used 3d technology (not cutting edge 3D, we borrowed cameras from WWII). Again, take caution flying.

At 4:10, that IS NOT a coyote skill!!!!!! It is a cow skull. The coyote is about the size of a small shepherd dog and has a small, narrow head with "canine" teethe...not large molars for chewing grass!!!!

But they are learning right, and doing a great job... But did anyone notice the big Steel screw jack in the first building with a roof?? I don't envy the person who packed that up there.. Keep up the great work..

I know exactly where Sunset point is! I use to go hiking every weekend in sedona and I would come back late and stop in at sunset point to use the bathroom, and If I was lucky there was a hotdog vendor there, the hotdogs are usually expensive, but after a long day of hiking, I didnt care, they always hit the spot, especially with a diet coke. and yea, I'll have to check that out. thank you for checking out the video!

You are correct, "the road I was on wouldn't have taken me out there". However, if you turned left off AZ 288 about 3 miles South of where it appears you took your last drone flight, you could follow A-Cross Road to within a half-mile of the 'cave' or whatever it is you saw from the South side of the lake, which I believe is on the Southern slope of Dutchwoman Butte. BTW, A-Cross Road is a gravel road but I've driven it in aa car, in fact many folks do to get to the Salome Jug.

8:55 there's a trail called "A Cross Rd" that runs the whole way behind Roosevelt Lake. It's not terribly difficult, any car with some clearance and AWD or 4WD can go on it. I was just up in that area this weekend, there are some ruins up Workman creek if you know where to look. Up the 288 there east of Roosevelt is a hidden gem. Not much to do but a nice cool place to camp and escape the heat.

There are some great ruins in the Superstitions, easily accessible by hiking if you’re interested. Also several in the Sierra Anchas east of the Valley. Those are accessible as well, but a bit more strenuous hikes. I love our state and have been exploring ruins, mines and caves for decades. How do you like your new drone? Been thinking about getting one, especially before our trip to West Clear Creek. Google that one, you won’t be disappointed!

I hope to make it to the Sierra Anchas one of these days here, been on my bucket list for a while now. .....I love my new drone, and I dont plan on buying one for a while, its small, very light, shoots 4k, takes some pretty sharp photos, and has night mode, which helps reduce grain in low light conditions1 best drone I've ever owned!

Oh nice! you will love the mini 4 pro, I still have my air 2 and I just keep it as a back up drone.....the mini 4 pro is better in many ways....especially with the night mode and 360 degree obstacle avoidance.......thats what gave me the confidence to fly close to these caves from such a great distance away

At the 4:10 elapsed time you show a skull that is labeled as a "coyote" skull; but I'm sure it's a cattle or deer skull based on the dentition (teeth).
@jessiesdroneadventures7464

This is my fault. Here is the backstory. I parked at a trailhead that was the closest to this cave. After I got my drone out I ran into a couple hikers. The older gentleman asked me where I planned on flying my drone, I told him I was going to check out a bunch of the shallow caves up on the mountain. He told me to keep a sharp eye out because there was a coyote skull in one of them. Now I just assumed this was it, and I should have done more research. Maybe he was incorrect? or maybe I found a different cave....who knows.....Thank you for the input 👍

What is also important to remember while watching this, or if you go in person, the lake we see (Roosevelt Lake) is man-made and only has been there for roughly 110-years now. The natives who lived there hundreds of years ago didn't see the lake from their dwellings. They only saw the notch of the river canyon and most likely couldn't even see the river until they got to the edge of the canyon.

I didnt get a chance to make it to the upper cliff dwellings. One of the guides there told me the hike to the upper cliff dwelling is only open from november to april.....I wanna say, only because its a more strenuous hike, so they only open it up during the cooler months, but I plan on doing it in the late fall...........thank you for checking out the video 🙏

Usually such cities are abandoned because of slash and burn farming which causes deforestation. Even with all their sophisticated irrigation. Get religious with states' rights and the Biblical nonviolence of Jesus The Christ of The Holy Bible.
