I am not so experienced when it comes to AF, so the fight's a little bit chaotic.

Usually I leave one hand then prioritize to kill all the minions, when the last minion dies i kill the last shadow hand, which gives the longest time before he interrupt with another spell. Good fight

It feels like they have been friends since ever because he is one of his creations. But of course, this is how it feels when these turn up against you. What a legendary, yet hilarious battle.

Duelists wouldn't have helped throughout the fight?

Not at all, the amount of time you have for damaging AF in the second phase is so little that by the time you summon them, AF would have his shield/minions again. In fact, duelists aren't even worth summoning in the first phase, lol. They die too quickly. I just did it for fun.

Having low sanity from duelists is also bad - at high sanity nightmares from amulet despawn as soon as you take it off, if your sanity is somewhere in the middle they'll often get in a couple attacks.

Yeah, I would say this fight and CC are polar opposites for Maxwell. AF counters him by punishing him every time he lowers his own sanity making it a bad idea to use his abilities. CC takes sanity out of the equation so Maxwell can spam as much as he likes. Interesting how that works out.

huh. that's actually interesting, since maxwell can use duelists when he wants to lower his sanity threshold, he can change between insane and sane states at a whim. Meaning he could get by the fight without anything but a meager amount of sanity food, armor, and some health food. Theoretically at least. Still would need to dodge cage attacks.

Is there really no time to summon more shadow duelists? I would imagine it would be a net dps increase but maybe the hands make it not worth it?

It's not really worth it imo. The summoning animation is too long, and they die really fast to DW. Also, summoning too many puts you in range of getting stunted by FW. However, you could check out Mr. Giggio channel, I think he features some DW fights where he uses the duelists. (The summoning animation ignores the stunted, so there's that.)

Absolutely hate this boss. His fight is so repetitive... Fight, take down the shadow hands and skulls, do the same thing again, and again, and again... The fact that he constantly shields himself and spawns those skulls like a minute after you've taken both down is ridiculous. And if you miss even one skull screw you, loose your progress by 400 health. I know it's suppose to be the final boss but geeze... Celestial Champion is so much more interesting as a fight, he goes through different phases, changes his looks and attacks, Ancient Guardian also a great boss with original mechanics, while fuelweaver just spams the same abilities every minute. I'd love this fight if it was like that: shield and skulls only once or twice, then maybe when his health is at 1/3 add a new attack, change the dynamic a bit by making him faster. I know a lot of fights in this game are repetitive but at least they're not as much of a pain as this one.

Yeah, I kinda agree. This boss is quite a challenge if you play solo, but become absolute joke with multiple people.

@@POOH_LY Hmm, never tried this boss with someone else so I dunno. But in solo gameplay I'd rather fight even crab king or dragonfly if we're talkin about repetitive fights. This one never amuzed me enough
