"Journey" is an original song for an ancient lyre and vocals, performed by the classical singer Aphrodite Patoulidou and Theodore Koumartzis on a LUTHIEROS Lyre of Orpheus.
This is a live recording that took place in SEIKILO Museum (Greece) during 2020, based on an on-spot improvisation by the two artists. "Journey" (studio recording) is part of the first album by the PAUSIS ensemble.

🎙️ Who is Aphrodite Patoulidou?
Aphrodite Patoulidou embarked on an international career as a member of the Equilibrium Young Artists Initiative by Barbara Hannigan, and as a Guest of Sasha Waltz. She has appeared in theaters such as Staatsoper Berlin, La Monnaie, Teatro Real Madrid, Greek National Opera; in concert halls such as the Berliner Philharmonie, Gothenburg Konserthuset, Snape Maltings, Bruges Concertgebouw, Utrecht’s TivoliVredenburg and festivals such as the Ojai Music Festival in California, Flanders Festival, La Monnaie Sleepover, Dresden Music Festival and Ludwigsburg Festival through digital performances due to the epidemic and many festivals in Greece. She has collaborated with conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Barbara Hannigan, and Chris Moulds.

I love how in Greece it's completely normal for people to be named by old gods. I met Apollos, Adonis, Athena and now even Aphrodite.

It is pretty common in Greece, indeed. Not as common as other names, but surely part of our everyday life. :)

The beauty is that in Greece countless of words and names are part of daily lives as the true meaning of the word. For example the English Vocabulary alone has 150.000 Greek words of origin, and with it many words that in Greek are used as the literal definition of it. It's truly a wonderful thing. I always say that if you know Greek you have access to so many languages in a easier way as so many words have Greek origins. When I don't know the meaning of a word in that language I would think back to what it may mean in Greek and then I find out that this is actually the case. It can be even such a simple thing as "Ego" Ego (in the good way pronounced) means "I" in Greece. Also about 5000 commonly used names around the world are Greek of origin. And the most interesting bit is that in Greece you celebrate your name day instead of your birthday. Birthday is also a thing in Greece, but most importantly name days are celebrated. I sometimes get a call on 17 Januari from all kinds of Greeks celebrating me leaving me surprised what is happening.

I have the privilège to work as a guide on a ancient greek and celtic archeological site in south of France. Ancien greeks went there 6 centuries BC and stayed until the arrival of the romans 3 centuries later. One afternoon, I played this song in my headphones roaming among the ruins. This was such a moment ! It was some kind of magic, and I really believe I "saw" history that day. Thank you very much for this powerful experience !
