Thank you! I was going to correct them too. The Gila Cliff Dwelling was my backyard when I was a kid in the 80's. And WOW! They haven't change since. Cheers

This area has changed quite a lot since I was last there in 84. I was told by a ranger back in 77 when I was first there that the dwellings was restored. When first discovered, there were lots of artifacts found there including dry Aztec beans and corn cobs. Thanks for sharing guys.

Notice the soot covered ceiling from all the the cooking and heating fires.

After visiting this area, it is very obvious why Geronimo and the people who were there first fought so hard to keep it.

My wife and I visited these dwellings about a year ago. They would allow water but not my diet coke for fear of attracting mice. Are they afraid of skinny mice? It is a mystery as to why the ancient Indians left. Maybe they wanted to be closer to a Walmart.

It’s only 180 feet elevation gain. Gila is pronounced He-La. The monument was established using the 1906 Antiquities Act.. if you’re going to make informational content you need to be accurate. Lots of people take you tube videos as accurate information even though it’s clearly made by individuals who are not experts.
