This museum video discusses the atl-atl- a universally human weapon that put humanity at the top of the food chain. The atl-atl emerged during the ice age, and humans in every region of the world adapted this weapon to hunt animals in their region. From woolly mammoths and buffalo, to fish and seals, to kangaroos and whales... this weapon was utilized to hunt everything. This video shares many of the different styles of atl-atl used around the world. Although anthropologists and historians typically use the Aztec word "atl-atl", every region of the world had their own name for this weapon, most of which have been lost to time.
