I played back then, and in EU where everything was 6 months behind the US. We had sleeves from at least 1995 when Mirage came out. And when I bought my first expensive singles in late 1994 (iirc either $11 dual lands or a $15 Fork) they were mailed in sleeves. People played their oooh-so-expensive $50 Lotuses (Unlim, Betas were "insane" at $80) in sleeves too from early 1995 so all cards from then on were sleeved. Interestingly enough for the rest of us with no P9s, we mostly played sleeves because they made the cards easier/smooth to handle when shuffling and didn't smash the edges so bad. And for a 15 yr old making $9/hr a $11-12 dual land was still a lot of money to not sleeve.

Judge asking if they want to put the pro tour final on hold until they're done with the booster draft. Priorities have changed.

Untrue! I had it in my top 8 deck at this same Pro Tour, and it did solid work. It was a VERY slow format, filled with tons of 5-6 mana spells and Thawing Glaciers everywhere.

I've played the game since almost the beginning, and it's amazing how much better creatures have gotten. In many cases, common creatures today are better than the rare creatures of 25+ years ago. I remember decks used to splash for Derelor - a rare 4/4 for 4 mana with a drawback. Nowadays there are common 4/4's for 4 mana with positive abilities.
