In some cases it's so damn obvious that it's the better solution, but you have to know it, in order to get to it. As someone who utterly hates monotony, I can understand this completely. I would do stuff like this all the time just to stave off boredom. Many people wouldn't understand, but I don't do it for them. You also get the added benefit of better hand eye coordination, and some self confidence boost, when you are doing tricks all the time for your own entertainment.
