Weyes blood isn’t a genre, she’s a feeling.

The amount of times I said “I KNOWWWW! 😭😭😭” and “RIGHTTT???? 😭😭😭” and “I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN!” while watching this video hahahaha. We are truly so lucky to be alive at the same time this music exists.

"Titanic Rising" is easily one of my favorite albums in existence and "And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow" didn't disappoint as a follow up. It's so lush, warm and stunning. Weyes Blood continues to amaze me.

I had God Turn Me Into a Flower on repeat when it dropped as a single and cried, and just like you said, not crying because it’s sad but just because it’s so absolutely beautiful.

Theres always something so cinematic about her albums, it feels like a journey through someones emotions encapsulated into music, sometimes calming, sometimes joyful sometimes absolutely soul crushing but it all comes together in a way that makes her work so special Its my titantic rising is my favourite album of all time and why this album absolutely blew me away too

I just got my vinyl for this album yesterday :))) I only got into Weyes Blood a couple of months ago, but i listened to Titanic Rising and her music just clicked for me. It’s safe to say that she’s officially one of my favorite artists of all time after this album.

Hearts aglow makes me cry

i really loved this album. against titanic rising i think that they are both perfect lol and compliment each other as parts of a story. my fave song is definitely a given thing, it’s such a beautiful closer that emphasises the whole point of the album, which is just to love even when it’s extremely difficult, and i love the contrast between the lyrics and the way she sings them and the darkness in the production, it’s extremely telling of this worldwide precipice we’re on that could result in doom (i know that’s extremely bleak lol)

The first time I listened to the singles from this album I felt a bit underwhelmed/disconnected, but now that the full album is out and I've listened a bunch of times I am obsessed with it haha. I think Twin Flame might be my fav because of the Cocteau Twins/Beach House vibes.

Thank you so much for this - I loved hearing your reaction and I have immediately subscribed, I always like hearing from fellow Weyes Blood fans! Funny how many things you said resonated with me. I listened to the album for the first time earlier today, and I tried so hard not to compare it with Titanic Rising, which to my mind is an absolute masterpiece. I was therefore super scared of listening to And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow, but she definitely didn't disappoint. So far, I can't say that AITDHA beat Titanic Rising in my very personal opinion, but I completely agree with you that it will come to a matter of personal taste and not objective quality. Both albums are definite masterpieces anyway. I was also sort of dubious when hearing the intro for Twin Flame, and I must admit it was a bit funny to see the same reaction from you, but I think this song will grow on me a lot. I actually ended up really liking it by the end, and more listens will strengthen that appreciation, or at least I think they will. I agree Hearts Aglow is a very strong contender for best song on the album, along with God Turn Me Into a Flower and Grapevine for me. But I think that my opinion might change with more listens as well. Sorry for the novel, and thank you again for this video; would love to hear your ranking of Weyes Blood songs later, perhaps when you will have had more time to listen to her new project.

One thing I noticed is that the synths at the very beginning of It's Not Just Me sound VERY similar to the melody of Titanic Rising (the interlude/song). I haven't done it yet but I feel like it'd pair well right after hearing Nearer to Thee, especially since it's the second part of a trilogy that started with Titanic Rising. I'm waiting for the album to sink in more before I situate it in relation to TR

I’ve only listened to this album once, but I really liked it. Not sure I like it as much as Titanic Rising, but that album is one of my favorites of all time, so the bar is high. I’m a sucker for ‘80s sounding stuff, so Twin Flame is a highlight for me.

First off, wonderful review! The last time, music, truly levelled my soul, was upon my very first listen of Abbey Road, by The Beatles. As a Musician and Music Producer; WEYES BLOODS, compositions are genius. Both,Titanic and Hearts Aglow, will become Classics. Interesting thought; when Radiohead came out with OK COMPUTER, it took over a year (or more), for people to realize, it’s brilliance. This will be the case for Weyes Blood”s music.

Regarding your comment about the country influence, from my understanding Weyes Blood is is a huge fan of Gram Parsons. She even has a prized Nudie Suit that she often wears on stage.

@briana I really resonated with what you said about her voice being calming and almost lulling you into a trance; you should check out the artist “Bedouine”, as she makes similar music with a similar effect. She’s very underground/underrated in my opinion.

This is a brilliant album, her best, I think. Children of the Empire, Grapevine and Hearts Aglow are all time great pop songs.

Basically this band are strongly influenced by bands from the 60s and 70s .. It's clear that she's into Caren Carpenter and the band sound very much like that artist. I can recommend a couple of bands that have very strong melodies who also have strong influences from that era. Those bands being are The Coral and The Good The Bad and The Queen.
