Oh man.. One of my favorite bands. Too Close To Hate, Bitch, Waffle, Trust, Angel's Son, Enemy, Praise, Decay... I can go on and on. Their new single Fence from their upcoming Album Truthkiller absolutely rips too. And yes, they're incredible live.

Lajon is a really cool down to earth guy. Met him in 99 he was so chill. We came 5 hours early and he saw us first and came up to us and offered us beers and even smoked with us. I ended up giving him a ride to a club called trees after the show in Dallas. Coolest guy from a metal band I’ve ever met.

I managed a mid sized concert venue (1500 seats) back in the late 90's, and Sevendust rolled through several times, these guys were on every tour, working their asses off. Amazing band and even better people, the whole band was super good to my staff and their fans, and absolutely CRUSHED it on stage. They have a big catalog, and still putting out great music and kicking ass onstage.

I'm 42 and I watched this band as a teenager. They were so hot in the 90s.

Lajon Witherspoon is a force of nature on vocals. Ive seen a music video for Black and they come through the crowd to the stage. High energy. First 2 Sevendust albums are flawless

Your initial reaction is spot on. Sevendust is criminally underrated.Take my advice and go see them live. Arguably one of the best live shows I've seen.

Sevendust is woefully underrated. Phenomenal band, just never quite had the mainstream success of other bands from that era.

It does my heart good to see Sevendust getting love and recognition. They are easily one of the most underrated and hardest working bands out there. They are also probably the nicest guys in rock/metal and put on one of the best shows (I lost count of how many times I've seen them, but it's at least 13). Some of their other songs you should check out are Face to Face, Praise, Denial, Alpha, and Enemy.

Sevendust is certainly a guilty pleasure from my youth. Lajon has a pretty distinctive and appealing sound to his voice. The first 3 albums are littered with bangers. Home, Animosity, and Seasons. The music isn't as complicated as TooL and doesn't maintain that almost 100% success rate track by track, but in those first 3 albums, you won't find too many misses.

When the initial Sevendust album was released in 1997 I was hooked! The entire thing was on repeat for me for several years, I got sober on 11/11/1998 and it helped me get through some tough times in early sobriety. I'm still sober today and I still remember those early years and how this album helped to fight the pain & my demons! Their vibe is unreal in the realest sense possible I'm so happy that you were turned onto them, More from this Album please!

Sevendust is outstanding, their first few albums might be the pinnacle of nu-metal/hard rock in the early 00's

He's singing about racism and the feeling of being different in a genre that he's "not supposed to be in." This is real, unencumbered emotion and healing being expressed in song. It's why it doesn't matter if you like the delivery. We ALL can relate to the content and the passion. It's beautiful and what brought me into the fold in 1997. I took my two sons to a festival in Phoenix AZ. Avenge 7X and Korn some others the thing is SevenDust was on one of other small stages. I couldn't believe how good this song was when I first heard it. They rocked their @$$&$ off. Your exactly right, it is up their with the best. Your on it for sure,I'm in it as well.😎

I had this same reaction first hearing this song in 1998 in high school. The early days of Sevendust, Deftones, Korn, Godsmack, Coal chamber, Soul FLy, Snot, etc., they got me through a lot. The song "Angels' son" by Sevendust had a great deal of meaning to me and is recommended highly.

That whole Sevendust album is great start to finish! Its a hidden gem, like The Melvins album Stoner Witch. When you can hear the next song up on the album in your head, you know its an album, not just a collection of songs.

Sevendust is just the best. Legends, all of them. Still going strong after decades of writing and touring. They’ve got staying power for a reason. Lajon’s voice is so soulful and beautiful, which is an incredible contrast to a lot of their instrumentation. I can’t recommend more of them enough. This band has never gotten the respect or attention they deserve. They’re a rabbit hole well worth following. If you like these guys, I bet you’d love the band Nonpoint, too.

I live in Atlanta and I’ve known Morgan (drummer) for years. I’ve seen them more than twenty times all over the country. Great guys all around. They are so connected with their fans it’s amazing to see. By far one of the best live bands hands down. Their stage energy is second to none.

I've seen Sevendust so many times I've lost count. They always showed up to play and never had a bad show. They are one of the most respected bands within the industry that never fully went mainstream.

It's not everyday you get to actually meet members of your favorite bands. What's even more rare is to meet them and they end up exceeding your expectations. I met L.J. and the guys 3 times since their 2nd album. Most wholesome, cool guys ever. It stuck with me and I support everything they do since then.

Crawlspace, Mouthpiece, Still Rain, doubleDrive.... Clint and his brother Corey, John, Vince, Morgan, who is the heart and soul of Sevendust, Lajon, Mike Froege, Donnie Hamby, Troy McLawhorn, Will Hunt.....so many fantastic musicians and bands were coming together to make great music in the Atlanta area in the decade of the 90's. It was a great time for rock music in the A-town for sure. Tool will far and away always be my favorite band, but Sevendust is right up there with AIC to round out my top three. 7D has a great catalog of music and younare always guaranteed a great show if you get the chance to see them live. Check out their acoustic set 'Southside Double Wide" they recorded at the Georgia Theater in Athens. I was there and it was a great show as always!

I remember the first time I heard that the lead singer was black. I was flabbergasted. That was new to me at the time. We are so blessed that this man loved metal so much that he became the lead singer for one the greatest underrated bands of all time.

Thank you for reminding me how good these guys were. I grew up listening to them, tool and so many other great bands at that time, I was definitely so spoiled that it was easy to forget or take the music for granted but I remember this went hard

I was in HS. Massive metal head. I remember seeing an ad in a metal magazine for Sevendusts debut album. The ad said "If you like Pantera, check these guys out" or something like that. I bought the CD without hearing a single song from it. One of my finest blind purchases ever.

Lajon was originally in an R&B band before Sevendust. You can hear it every now and then, but his voice for rock is absolutely amazing. Sevendust is such a great band all around. Morgan is a monster of a drummer too

SEVENDUST RULES. I’ve seen them so many times live it used to be a favorite pastime of mine to see them at House of blues in Orlando on New Year’s Eve… It’s an experience that you will never get enough of, and I’ve gotten my ass beat and beaten, many peoples ass in the mosh pit at their shows, and, it’s one of my favorite concert experiences in life. Plus I’ve met them a couple times and they are really nice guys on top of being incredible musicians and live performers. Can’t say enough about this band. Fucking LOVE THEM. 😈🤘🏼

Lajon is such a great vocalist! My favorite Sevendust song/version is "Skeleton Song" from the Double Wide Acoustic set they did a while ago. I also love Christmas Day from that same set. Double Wide is just... easily my favorite acoustic set ever outside of an MTV Unplugged. This band is great, and they've been consistantly active since the mid 90's. This song is from 97, and they never stopped. Easily the most consistant band of the era. Enjoy the rabbit hole! :D

Such an underrated band as they’ve definitely had some success for sure but I never hear anyone talk about them. They’ve got so many great songs and they’re such a talented band. I was shattered when they canceled their last Australian tour.

I met the singer, Lajon Witherspoon, at theTattoo the Earth tour in Milwaukee back in 2000. He was stoned as hell, but a really nice dude. I've seen Sevendust at least 8 times live and they are just amazing.

Sevendust is an AMAZING live band and they have a great catalog. Please dive into them and enjoy it all! Lead singer is Lajon Witherspoon and the beast of a drummer is Morgan Rose. They are all phenomenal!

Interesting side note: Sevendust was produced and managed by Jay Jay French Founder and guitarist of Twisted Sister as well as produced by: Mark Mendoza (bassist) of Twisted Sister. 🤘 (and Jay Jay was doing it with the band long before they became known as Sevendust) when they went through many name changes, but both were instrumental in the bands success. Ironically, the band was the seventh version of a band Jay Jay started working with in 1988. Dee Snider (Twister Sister's vocalist did other successful and criminally underrated side projects with "Desperado" that basically became "Widowmaker" and then there as Van Helsing's Curse as well as his very successful solo career. These guys as a whole made a mark on metal and the music industry like no one else, From the PMRC hearings to helping out other bands and just constantly creating and reinventing themselves and reuniting to raise for the families of 9/11 victims. People just don't know and don't respect the guys that meant so much to the metal community and it's fans. So if you're not a Twisted Sister fan and never understood how hard they worked and the fact that they played around 7,000 shows before they even got signed because you think they're a 'joke band' because you've only heard the 'stadium hits' and never got into them... you are missing out BIGTIME!!! You gotta check out Sevendust "Bitch" my favorite song of theirs off the same album.

Live and acoustic, Sevendust "Black" at Guitar Center - blown away by that performance - legit and so relevant.

The lead singer is a dreadlocked black dude called Lajon Witherspoon. Sooooo great to see a black fontman, and hes a total natural. Doesnt need a guitar in hand, he is 100% awesome as just the singer. I love this band. Best songs to check out are Licking Cream, Angels Son. Both have video clips. Waffle, Praise, Denial, Live Again. The softest song is Angels Son, written about the death of a close friend, its really emotional and sad and filmed in a hospital.

Don't sleep on @Sevendust. They are so underrated. Been a fan for a long time. They are one of my favorite bands.

There's several great live performances of this, one of my favorites is the Guitar Center vid, more of an unplugged acoustic version. Lajon's vocals are insanely good!

Sevendust is such a good band. They deserve so much more than they get right now. The Acoustic version they did Live in Athens of this song is so damn good too! You should absolutely check it out! Lajon Witherspoon is actually one of my favorite singers of all time as well. His voice is just so full of power and energy. AND they're one of the best bands to see live. The band is just a group of guys that are GREAT people man. Lajon is such a cool and nice guy. Look into him and Sevendust, you won't regret it, I swear you won't.

I am from Atlanta, the hometown of this band and I have seen them twice. One full on thrash concert and one acoustic concert. They are awesome and extremely underrated. And plus they are good dudes! After the acoustic show they're hung out on the street talkin to different fans. At one point they even brought their kids on stage while there were singing there acoustic show. If I remember correctly the drummer is or was married to the bass player of a perfect circle

Dude, I am happy for you [don't lose your hearing on this, it can happen]. The first time that I heard this, I was in the zone. It was '97 after graduating from an HBCU, this Que Dawg from the Dirty South [& a lover of Rock] went on a search for this band. I ended up in a concert and got down in the Pit. Talk about a great time. If you have never been to their show, let me tell you, it was an Experience. They were overlooked as a band in many ways, but their sound reigned supreme. I share this song with my sons and use their music to keep my old bones strong in the gym. Love the band and all they've done. They are one of the Greats!

My very first band in the 90s....our 3rd show ever we got a call from the White Rabbit in San Antonio with an opening for the 2nd stage. The main stage had Ultraspank, Clutch, Stuck Mojo and Sevendust playing. After the show we went to the patio and Lajon (lead vocalist) pulled out a zip lock freezer bag of pre rolled joints. Everybody had a J and a drink. I was in high school 😂

I first saw Sevendust in a Little Mexican bar in San Antonio called Tejano Texas and been hooked ever since

I remember my bassist bringing this album to a show we were playing at the time; back in the day. It was Huge. We were instantly hooked. We ended up becoming friends w/ them and doing shows with them in Atlanta. Good times….

Funny story about this song. When I was 17, I was blasting this song from my Mustang Cobra driving through my friends neighborhood. One of his neighbors, an African American fellow was walking with his wife and he immediately began mocking and fake head banging in disgust. It wasn't until I pulled up next to him and informed him the lead singer was in fact a fellow Black gentleman from Georgia that was the lead singer. Weeks later, this same guy was jamming Sevendust from his own garage as he was throwing party 🤣 Made him a fan for life 👍 Inadvertently making him a fan. Sevendust is greatness, and good tunes are good tunes.
