Castle of our Skins, in collaboration with spoken word artist Regie Gibson, the Museum of African American History, and the National Park Service, presents "Black Orators: By Word and By Pen Word": a program is a poetic and musical dedication to the unwavering persistence shared in three literary giants (Maria Stewart, David Walker, and Samuel Allen).

Such a beautiful, and expressive piece! Price is a composer I'd never heard of until about a year ago; *now* she's one of my favorites (which includes Dvorak, Beethoven, Bach, Brahms, et al)

Yes this is for string quartet. ClarNan Editions is now part of Classical Vocal Reprints which is why the listing may seem confusing.

Well 1.) They all just might be of colour, we shouldn't assume just because of passing or not passing privilege. 2.) Regardless of the colour, can't we just celebrate the appreciation of the genius of a Black woman?

@@roymariano7116 your racism is showing...and as me being a student at one of the top conservatories in the country studying classical music id beg to differ...and even if I was playing Hip Hop...based on the racism shown in classical music which you so graciously exuded..do you blame them ? right.

The music wasn't composed just for Black people, it was made to be heard and played by everyone along her contemporaries. As a black Cellist, I'm glad other musicians are taking an interest in and performing her work just like we would Bernstein, Bach, or Bae
