Yes, she is a trained indian classical dancer. I was told by my grandfather who taught her various dance forms in her childhood that she had mastered 4 out of 8 indian classical dance forms when she was just 13 . Its really hard to find some one who can match her proficiency in Kuchipudi, bharat natyam, odissi and kathak. Its not just about her dancing skills, but ,Manga Bhanu ( BHANU PRIYA JI) was an extraordinary actor .She could act with her eyes with out dialogues . Also she is equally good in western style / indian free style dancing as she could match with the best dancers of her era like chiranjeevi . She coould match each step with chiranjeevi even while wearing a saree. Thadiginathom - in movie "State rowdy " is just an example..

You will love all the songs from this movie.. the movie itself is a master piece. Reema also this is the classical dance form of kuchipudi which originated in Andhra Pradesh. Usually the beats are faster than bharatanatyam in kuchipudi. Classical dances are always performed barefoot coz it’s considered a form of worship. Also in the movie she always disrespects art which her dad wants her to inherit and ends up being the reason In a way for his passing. So this is when she realises her mistake and repents

This is Telugu version of "Good Will Hunting" made some 40 years back. She is prodigy in Kuchipudi form of dance, everyone recognises it, her father himself being a dancer & teacher. She likes to have normal life.. doesn't care about dance till her father dies because of heart break and disappointment as she kind of insults the dance, as in current time it is not meeting her interests and needs. She eventually realise her mistake, but still she wants to have a normal life anyway..

There are many from India to speak Kamala Hasan. But you should know about the actress Saritha heroine of this movie. In my opinion she is a legend in Indian Cinema. It is not only my opinion, the Director, K. Balachandar, of this movie, who is regarded as Legend of sort Indian Cinema, commented about Saritha as the greatest Actor he had ever come across. Though Kamala Hasan is his pet student of the so-called "Balachandar School", He never commented or praised Kamala Hasan as such. He made such a comment referring to her performance in His Another movie 'Agnisakshi'(Telugu) Agni Satchi (Tamil)(This movie is available on KZfaq). In this film she played the role of a married woman affected by Schizophrenia. The reason given by the Director for her praise is that, in a important scene, he shoots in close up continuously for five minutes capturing her facial expressions. He said there is none to act in such shot expect Saritha. Atleast I didn't have courage to shoot such a scene with anyone in the film field I Know. Please watch the movie and comment. She lately made a come back into Tamil movies with Sivakarthikeyan movie "Maaveeran".

To make u understand more: Movie revolves around protagonist Chandrashekar who is painting artist who falls in love with Meenakshi, Second daughter of a famous dance exponent going through times of poverty and eye disease(which eventually gets better by treatment). she feels classical dance and all are not meant for money and livelihood, and her eldersister Susheela convinces that "we are fortunate to have father as our Guru & to have learnt these traditional arts from him". Meenakshi remains adamant, makes all mischief to escape dance classes, but Chandrashekhar catchers her mischief manytimes and one fine day after Susheela's marriage, a dance recital was arranged which is stark against minakshi's interest. That day she shows her hatred on him in the auditorium by scattering anklebells away on purpose to hurt Chadu to let him savor consequences, but rather hurts his father, who takes decission to dance instead to cover up humiliation, and dies on the stage with cardiac arrest. Though she didn't expect that mishap, she warns chandrashekhar to stay away. After a while, she joins a hotel as a house keeping trainee. Where her boss identifies eventually by photos from chandrashekhar's archive, for a banner design. Boss offers better role as classical dancer and head of cultural arts desk. Where the income is more than a trainee. She some how half heartedly starts that role and dances at restaurant stage where, american dancer Sharon Loven boards, to perform in the city next day. But watching meenakshi rather pays her attention to photographers makes her sad leave the program midway. After Sharon's oddisi dance next day, she offers meenakshi to perform at amerca but with all heart and devotion, but not simply withbody and limbs. She gets motivated slowly...as she moves along with time, taking opinions from Chandrashekhar,sister Susheela, friends and unknowingly likes chandrashekhars good intentions, She keeps practicing with him singing... Ending: she gets ready and goes with Chandra for passport office, and halts mid way to see his father's disciples dancing(this is where the song begins:) with reverence. Thats where her futile ideas melt as tears from her eyes and reaches the state of bliss (nature-parvati- white color dressed yogini in her mind). She dances singing "Andela ravamidi Padamuladhaa" with devotion, joy, emotional outpour. Sharon Visits the place n looks Meenakshi devoted like never before. This song ends where both Sharon and Chandra claps n assures she will be taken to america, but heroine says her bliss is more than mundane desires ,she felt it for the first time. Movie ends :where Meenakshi chooses Chandrashekhar (reminding her past through the farewell card he sent)and leaves airport and expresses her love coming to his place and gratefully embraces to have found him and a blissful life. They lived together happily ever after
