This show takes serious stuff seriously. This is the first show to deal with a gay character(on Disney) and anxiety(seriously). This is such a relief from other shows. As a person who shows signs of anxiety(I do not know if I have it or not because I haven't gone to a therapist yet) panic attacks are terrifying and it takes an emotional toll on people I mainly have anxiety attacks where stress and emotions build up to the point of explosion but when I have panic attacks it's absolutely terrifying. For me the world starts spinning and it feels like I'm falling my stomach starts hurting and it feels like I need to vomit I get dizzy and constantly stumble sometimes I go into fetal position and cry and sweat. It's stressful especially when your around people because they don't know what's happening

I like this show because it’s showing kids not to use the term Panic attack for something that’s like being scared, I had a panic today at school during lunch and humiliation got the best of me and I ran out and a lot of people saw me starting to have a panic attack and it was embarrassing even my teacher looked at me like I was over reacting or it was just from drama but I don’t do drama I was literally sitting alone at an empty table and started having one. Delaney Andreasen yeah, that must be quite hard. On the first day of year 9 last year and my first English lesson of the year, I didn't know where the classroom was, so I wandered around the part of the school where all the English rooms were and couldn't find the right class. I finally found it. I opened the door 20 minutes late, everyone stared at me... I went right to the teacher (gladly it was a sub) and explained I was all he way on the other side of the school while hyperventilating. He said why are you so out of breath, so I told him I ran from the other side of the school, so sorry I'm late. He said it was fine although it doesn't take less than 5 minutes to get to the other side of the school, he saw how upset I looked and told me to sit down and start working. I had a quiet panic attack by myself at the back of the class and no one noticed :/

i dont know but the little things just makes me so upset. My brother started annoying me one time and when he left the room i started breathing very hard and i just started to cry. I thought that was the end of that but then i went to the bathroom to cry and breathe very hard for a whole 30 minutes. I talked to myself and i finally started to calm down. It happens pretty often out in public. I hate eating at restaurants because it feels like everyone is looking at me. My palms start to get sweaty and I start getting angry and upset.i hold in my tears because it's just embarassing. i think it's because im just very sensitive and i get angry easily. my mom told be that she also gets angry easily and she had to get surgery to remove a body organ that holds anger. (??? she told me in spanish and im not a very good translator) It might be genetics so idk. I also think its because im still going through puberty and its "the awkward and rough" years. gah

I get panic attacks, and this perfectly showed what they can look and feel like, for observers and the person having them. Of course it varies from person to person, but props to Disney! They obviously did their research!

I remember one time I had a panic attack at school. They usually come because of sensory overload for me. A whole floor was too loud, and there were so many people, and the noise was too much. so I curled up in my chair and started crying, covering my ears, and hyperventilating. It was really embarrasing; but since I knew what it was I wasn't scared, just mortified. Two of my friends led me out and gave me water- it was really helpful and I calmed down after a few minutes. I don't have them that often anymore, but that specific one triggered hypersensitivity and I had one almost every day for the next month.

I suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder with Agoraphobia, Plane Phobia,Claustrophobia and Health Anxiety, even panic attacks during my sleep for 7 years. This kid reminds a little bit myself, the first time that i had a panic attack (16 yo). I realised 2 years later that i have anxiety or panic attacks (18 yo). It's very scary and awful. The signs and the symptoms are so bad that you think you are suffering from another more serious disease. The way he breathes is completely wrong, because anxiety and fear by and via super fast inhales and exhales cause more fear and anxiety and more panic occures! Deep and slow inhales, then deep and slow exhales. That's the finest way to breath during this horrible situation.
@norabell07432 жыл бұрын
I don’t mean to be disrespectful but generalized panic disorder is not a thing (at least from what I know. And if it is a thing please educate me!😁). Could you be confusing that with a different anxiety disorder?
@kostisfourniotc3092 жыл бұрын
@@norabell0743 Sorry that's not disrespectful at all. At the time I meant anxiety disorders. You're actually spot on. In 2013 I had Generalized anxiety disorder until 2017. Then panic disorder or just anxiety disorder. I have also suffered from agoraphobia which I still fight but I'm doing better. I still have Health anxiety and sometimes nocturnal panic attacks which are awful. But due to my claustrophobia and a bit of plane phobia if I have to experience a situation where I'm trapped in a lift or a plane with turbulence I feel that I'm dying. On the top of that all the above trigger insomnia and IBS of course....
@norabell07432 жыл бұрын
@@kostisfourniotc309 oh ok! That makes much more sense. I had never heard of that but I am very interested in psychology so if it was a disorder I wanted to make sure I knew about it. I also totally understand your plane/flying anxiety and that is definitely something I experience as well. I mean I actually experience a lot of things you described. I too am diagnosed with GAD and I just recently got diagnosed with ADHD. Since the symptoms of ADHD in girls present differently form those in a male(since adhd was only studied in young boys) it took me years to get diagnosed. My symptoms were always just dismissed as anxiety but my amazing mother (who is currently back in college studying psychology and neuroscience) really helped with my diagnosis process. Your description of anxiety causing insomnia was also quite accurate for me aswell. I am always afraid that I won’t fall asleep because I also have severe migraine with aura that can be triggered but sleep cycle changes. But when you get in that state of panic then you can’t fall asleep so it just turns into a never ending cycle. I hope that you continue to find ways to cope with your mental health, and always remember to reach out for help when you need it. Never play down your symptoms in fear of scaring others or fear that they won’t believe you. That was definitely something I did for a very long time until I realized that there are truly people out there that are here to help. For a long time I was in therapy but then I stopped due to covid. After that first year or two my doctor recommended to start therapy again because it really was helping me. My mom then later forgot and my mental health was declining very quickly. When I was finally able to speak to someone about these feelings I was so much happier. Just having an outlet is so helpful. Know that there are people to speak to! You got this!

I love how they added in more information about panic attacks. I have had about 10 before knowing what they were and why they kept happening. For me I've been having them since 6th grade, but I could never fully understand what they were until I saw that some of my symptoms were a bit more complicated than the normal ones. Ex. I gradually become temporarily paralyzed with my whole body going numb. Making me unable to talk, move and in worse time breath. On one of my worst days I felt like I was going to faint while having one. It's so great to see representation of it. I just wish I found this show much earlier. My friends help me when I have mine, and eventually I found easier ways to calm myself down.

I've had Panic Attacks many times. They started in High School and they're different every time. Twice I could not stand, couldn't breathe, my body was tingling, chest felt tight, and was blacking out. Lying down made it stop. Twice I felt extremely cold and felt tingling. I shook endlessly and could not breathe. While I was lying down. I had to wait it out. Then again today my fingers went tingly, I was cold, I felt nauseous, chest pain, stomach pain, trouble breathing, and feeling faint. Today I went to the hospital for the pain. They said it was anxiety.

Sasha Hienz no they are not. a panic attack occurs suddenly with no warning, and thats what makes people scared to have another because they dont know when it will happen. an anxiety attack happens when someone worries about something and gets stuck on it and then keeps stressing which results in panicking and hyperventilation. they are both caused by stress, but both are not the same.

I'm 26, and I've struggled (and still struggle) with panic disorder and depression. When I was younger, anxiety was something overlooked, seeing that kids can become aware of it, understand it, through a teenage Disney show, it's honestly the best thing that could have happened for Disney 💗

As someone who has struggled over the years with depression and anxiety, these scenes broke my heart to watch. I know it’s obviously not real, as it’s a tv show and the kid was acting…. But seeing his performance brought back the reality felt during such moments. Kudos to this actor for bringing awareness, and to the screenwriters for showing how friends SHOULD treat those who suffer from any form of mental illness.

This is relatable. Not just having panic attacks but not wanting to have more, being scared to tell others. This show is educating us and others on what actual panic attacks are and I thank it for that, when I was about 13 I started to struggle to breathe. I didn’t have asthma so I didn’t know what is was. Then emotions overwhelmed me and I began to cry, the teacher took me outside and told me to sit down, close my eyes and breathe but every time I closed my eyes I thought I would die. My breathing got rapid and then with out any intention, I pass out. Turns out it was a severe panic attack. I still get them, no to the extent of passing out, (not all the time thank goodness) but sometimes when I get them I can’t close my eyes because I fear I will die. When I get panic attacks or even feel one coming on, I call my friend who lives hours away. We just sit there, she usually talks to me about what ever (I try to focus on what she’s saying to get my mind off things) it usually works...that’s my story that no one asked to hear..thanks if you read it and I hope you have an amazing year.

I have panic attacks almost each day. I have figured out how to disguise them and now I just look plain normal. I’ll go a bit quiet but in my head is like living hell. Sometimes I’ll breathe heavily or walk out the room. But my friends don’t seem to care. I have 2 friends though. They know and when everyone was fighting I had to run out the room. Everyone tried to go after me but my 2 friends stopped them and told them they wouldn’t hear the end of it. I’m great full for them and dunno why I even said this 😂

I used to have these when I was little for literally no reason. I would get rushed to the hospital saying I couldn’t breathe and I was gonna throw up, but I never did, and for some reason no one ever suspected I have anxiety disorder. They gave me all kinds of nausea suppressants, even ones for pregnant women with morning sickness. I’m not even 20 years old yet, and things have changed so much. It’s so good to see mental health being treated correctly nowadays.
