Same here, although I wouldn't say I grew up here, I came in my early twenties. This song is the best song ever. No f*ing clue what he says but I love the melody and the clip. BTW, I plan to visit Eritrea when I go back home a the end of the year.

I agree the dance is Amharic but the melody/beat is also similar to astatile in Tigrinya music, it’s just not as well known. But I get what you mean that it resembles Amharic melody 😊
