I really don`t know what i should say but let me try to explain what this does to me because i want to share this special moment which it was for me. Iàm not really familiar with classic music (tried to play the Schneewaltzer when i was 10 and learning to play keyboard in the 80`s) but i love Music and i can feel it because iàm a hypersensible person. Now i`am 47 years old and sitting here at my breakfast table with my wife, playing this song and i was sitting here with tears in my eyes rolling down my face, not much but...yes. I have goosebumps on my whole body, listening to this music and seeing Sir Anthony Hopkins how he enjoy it so much listening to this masterpiece of composition played by the best Man Andre Rieu with his outstanding Orchestra. Nobody could transport this feelings better than Andre Rieu and his Orchestra. Iàm deeply impressed what Sir Anthony Hopkins had composed, a masterpie in my mind which touch the soul. You just don`t compose a masterpiece like this... it came from the bottom of the heart and soul and thats the reason why it has an impact like it has and iàm sitting here with tears in my eyes. Iam pretty sure that none of this great human beeings nether Sir Anthony Hopkins nor Andre Rieu is reading my post but it doesn`t matter because i just wan`t to share and express my feelings because i was surprised myself. Thank you for this special moment which it was for me Sir Anthony Hopkins and Andre Rieu with his outstanding Orchestra. All the best to both of you from the bottom of my heart!

Did somebody else got impressed with his sincerity listening in the sense of having a live experience like never before. He is obviously talanted enough to hide his true emotions and not show a weakness. Well, he doesn´t and he didn´t... He was frightened, weak and comepletly nacked in front all these strangers - and he just embraces the moment... That is the most unique and precious quality a human can posses. My infinite bow!

Sometimes less is more. I don't really like avid classical listeners to criticize this work because they get too caught up and obsessed about the most little technical parts of the composition until they don't really know how to listen to a simple piece which can move a normal listener, smile and get goosebumps. Don't get too obsessed deeply in classical music and lose yourself from all the simplicities in life. Sometimes less is more. And this is more than an average piece. To my ears (and I don't give a shit about what people think,) it is a beautiful piece.
@palonazo

See, that's the problem. When you do enjoy something, you tend to consume more of it. When you consume more of it, you unavoidably grow a culture and higher standards, in this case, musical culture and standards. Once you are in possession of that culture and high expectations, you can't get rid of them. Little musical culture is enough to not appreciate this piece as much as someone who isn't deep into complex classical music. Is it a good thing? Yes and no. The downside is that goosebumps are a lot harder to get. The good thing is that when you do get goosebumps out of something you have high standards of, then those are some incredible goosebumps.

palonazo Good logical explanation. That's how the things usually works, once we're deeper into something we naturally tend to know more about it which automatically makes our standards of evaluation a lot higher. But when your knowledge about certain things evolve, the amount of satisfaction that can be received during listening will evolve as well. (=
@bigSkapinsky
@bigSkapinsky 10 жыл бұрын
I see where you're going with this, but there's a simple allegory to explain what the critical listeners go through. Imagine a newborn baby. All he sees is a bunch of different colour, organized in shapes and patterns that the baby can't yet recognize or make any sense of. Depth perception, faces, his own body, nada. yet, he will find the comfort of seeing his parents, or laugh when you jingle keys at it... he still finds some things interesting without making any sense of them. Now take a grown adult, he understands all the color he sees, and now, keys don't make him laugh anymore. he now has to see very complex things (like movies, comedy acts, etc...) to get a good laugh. See just because we analyze, criticize, and take apart the music we listen to, doesn't mean we enjoy it less. We enjoy it differently. and just like palonazo said, when we do get the goosebumps (which I did here) well DAMN those are some intense goosebumps
@palonazo

Big Skapinsky Exactly. Watch the video of that girl who's had ear implants installed and hears sound for the first time. She starts weeping at hello. What would you say if she said it was the best hello ever performed? You, with your experience at not being deaf would answer that there's nothing special about that "hello", that there's more acoming, and that there are even better ones. Same here. People who go crazy with this video, who were attracted to it purely by the Hopkins factor, need to realize there's more and better music out there. This Waltz here is a textbook exercise on imitating known waltz structure with little innovation. This video is then equivalent to "super famous actor who wanted to be a chef, fries an egg in Ferran Adria's kitchen".

I know I'm about 10 years too late, but I would like to thank Andre for making Sir Anthony's dream come true. As a hobbyist composer, I know what it is like to have written what I consider my masterpiece, and finally hearing it played. Thankfully, nowadays we have software orchestras, so all the other composers who couldn't get their music played, can play it themselves, which is what I do now.

One of those rare moments when a person reaches a height of human experience, can you imagine having written something so long ago and having it played by Andre Rieu under such high praise? It's such a good Waltz, and such a good video of the moment it happened.

After a very long time I came across a masterpiece that mesmerised me. The lyrics referring to the wind is a metaphor for fate, and how it blows us around, eventually spiralling across the world and intermingling with various timelines of various people. Its a song displaying acceptance of the Butterly effect (the theory of how a small action can lead to much bigger outcome, a flap of a butterfly's rings can cause a typhoon), just like our lives, that one look, that one smile, that one greetings, that one opportunity to speak up be we ignored, the list goes on. This song made me think of how one simple sentence can lead to something drastic. My achievements, my failures, my sorrows, my experience, the love of my life and so much more came down to one simple sentence which I uttered to my cousin in 2016, and the rest, This song took care of it. Thank you so much for this song. finally learned to let go through this song, finally learned that just like we appreciate fate giving us things, we need to accept it taking things from us too. I finally, finally learned to let go, I finally managed to accept what happened. All thanks to this song. I never imagined a song could do this to me, neither did I imagined I would be up 1 am writing such a long comment on KZfaq, my comments barely go past "lol" and "Ibruh". Thank you guys. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.

So soulful... so melodious , just a perfect score for a scne with 2 love lorn people , who are drowned in eyes of each other , going through emotions that can hardly be put in words, feeling the warmth and love emenate from their lover , radiating waves after waves of pure love all around. Like the title Waltz goes on , the love goes on and on with 2 souls entiwned in each other forever and beyond

I have never said it counted for anything, I see how it's obviously unnecessary to include your age. But sometimes it can be nice to see that people of all ages are enjoying this magnificent piece of music, whether you like it or not. If you are annoyed by me saying I'm fourteen on a video of a walts, I'm sorry and I offer my most sincere apologies to you. But please, who the fuck cares if it counts or not
