@nicolaschacon2707. No, reality is that Sampras was "in the driver's seat" in total control of that match after 3 sets and "took his foot off the accelerator" so to speak, losing a totally winnable match! Period!

@michellewilliams4702. Wrong! Sampras was in control of that match with a 2 sets to 1 lead after goose-egging Agassi in the 3rd set tiebreak 7-0 and let that match slip away! That's reality! Agassi played very well to come from behind to win that match, but Sampras clearly let Agassi "off the hook" in the 4th set of that match!
@nicolaschacon2707

Was the match finished at 2-1 and tie break in the fourth? No. The match finishes when a player wins the last ball, so WRONG! Agassi regained control and won. Just like Agassi didn’t have control at the beginning of the match, Sampras didn’t have control at the end of the match.
@michelewilliams4702

@@nicolaschacon2707exactly. That day Agassi was the better player of the match. Sampras was better player during 2 sets only. @michaelbarlow Just like you say Sampras goose-egging Agassi on the 3rd set tie break, he couldn’t do it in the 4th set, because Agassi played much better tie break than the first. So what’s the point? You don’t win a match just for goose-egging a tie break.

@@michaelbarlow6610 no, reality is that Agassi took control of the match and Sampras lost control of the match, Agassi turned it around and beat Sampras. Singles tennis matches are always between 2 people, you can’t say “Sampras let it slip away” cause that implies that there was no opposition at the other side of the net. The reality is that Agassi did everything for Sampras not be able to close the match in the 4th and did it successfully, taking the match to a 5th set. Then Agassi got control over Sampras, overwhelmed him in the 5th and beat him.

@@ic5761 Simply being down a set and winning a tennis match is not referred to as a comeback. Agassi won the first set, Sampras the next two, Agassi the next two. If Agassi had been down 2-1 in sets and down a break or two late in the 4th, then you’re starting to get into “comeback” territory. If he’d been down 2-0 in sets then definitely. But that didn’t happen here. Just a great back-and-forth battle, no “amazing comeback” to be seen here.
