I add volume by braiding my hair with a paranda, then wrapping and pinning it up into a braided bun. This requires at least shoulder-length hair, but it works very nicely! There are tutorials here on KZfaq for making your own paranda out of yarn.

In the U.S, you can get the hair doughnut at most stores and pharmacies. Also, Sheri Rose sells a thing called a "bun ball" in small and large that you can buy through amazon and esty along with some nice tichels and pre-tied scarfs. Also, the website doubleheaderusa has scarf liners that would help hold whatever you use in place, along with scarfs, tichels, pre-tied, and snoods. I made my own bun out of fake hair that I braided and shaped and can pin in place high or low. Uptowngirl and coveryourhair are also good options. Hope that helps!

Personally, I have really short hair at the moment (growing it out, but it's going to take a while...) and I have found (after much trial and error) that a small loofah secured over top of one of those doughnut bun-makers makes for quite a nice faux bun. It gives great volume, and doesn't feel too suspicious if touched.

You can use a big flower clip too. Just put it over your bun and tie the scarf. Love the sock idea!

I would use "chemo caps" to put my fake bun in. You can find them anywhere chemotherapy supplies are sold. They are a very soft knit (since our bald heads are sensitive) and come in a variety of colors. I'm pretty sure a company called TLC sells them. I bought mine at the Cancer Center I go to.

Hi Andrea! Love your videos and your store! I am new to wrapping and am still experimenting with what feels the best on my head as far as putting my hair up. I haven't found a way to secure it that feels comfortable yet. I will get it right eventually though! BTW, I am a Mac user … when making your videos be sure to change the settings in System Preferences [on the dock] the Energy Saver control panel to about 15 minutes so the computer and display won't "sleep" while you are making your videos. Hope that helps! :D

Hair doughnuts are cheap and easy to find at Target, CVS, Rite Aid, and other major drugstore chains. But I find that a high ponytail or bun with a scrunchie works just fine for me.

It's called a sock bun. You can make it out of a sock by roling it into a donut and cutting the end so you can stick your hair through it. You can get them at clairs or any hair accesory store.

another bun tip or trick.wig shops sell synthetic hair for braids. it is a bundle of lose hair. normally the bundle is a little over a yard long and looks like a pony tail.cut it in half and loop a pony tail in the center so the you have a loop.attach the loop to something realy sturdy and tease it and rat it up until its looks like a big ratty mess. place it in a hair net and roll it and shape it into a sausage shape in roll the net and twist the net to hold the hair in. you could also shape it int to a bun by sewing the ends of the sausage together making a doughnut shape. this can now be used to slide over your own hair bun, or pined around it for more volume. the packages of hair cost between 2 to 5 dollars. in most wig shops and often as little as a dollar a package and depending on how much volume you want ther is enough hair to make two to four buns.hair nets can be found at most drugstores or on pretty much any hair care isle at most drug stores or chain stores such as walmart, target etc.the last hair net i got was under a dollar and i think they come two to a package.

Andrea and All, If you're looking for a webpage to find undercaps, search headcoverings-by-devorah on Google, and the page should be the first link or two. Theirs is made of nylon and is very stretchy.

Hi again! Just wanted to let you know those little bun/donut things are sold in Target with some pins and instructions. I'll try and find a link but I saw them there the other day. Which means it's probably in Rite Aid or Walgreens (pharmacy) too. It was no more than $10 I think.

I don't know what their called exactly but I know that my mum brought a ton of them when she went shopping in Dubai mall I suppose these kind of headscarf sponges you can only find in the Middle East even over here in London where I live I don't see many places that sell them but I think a place you could try going to is an Islamic clothes shop for women if there are any near your area I'm sure if you went there the people would be more than happy to help find you a headscarf volumiser

There's a tutorial for a really cool bun base using a stretchy undershirt by UncommonCoverings. To find it, search "the perfect bun-base" in the KZfaq search bar. It's one of the first two (choose the shorter one). I've tried it out and I really like it :)

You can find the under scarves at many Islamic clothing stores, and likely much cheaper than buying online. I pay about $3 for mine. :)

0:39 "Some ladies are lucky to have very thick and frizzy hair"....Um...can we trade? My hair is ridiculously thick, frizzy, and down just past my natural waistline. It is an absolute chore to brush and bun. And I break hair ties if they have any sort of seam.

they are called either a shabasa or a farasha clip, or anyone who is interested can get volumizing scrunchies, which is more comfortable then the clip, especially when resting the head on the back of a chair, and the clips can have a tendency to break.
