Thinking of going to Morocco with your motorhome / campervan?
After our 8-week, 3000 km trip we sit down and talk about the things WE have learned along the way.

ABOUT US:
Welcome! We’re Andre and Lisa. A married South African couple who has been traveling together for almost 20 years, to more than 50 countries. In 2017 we took stock of our life and made the decision to 'retire early'. We gave up our professional careers and all our personal possessions to explore the world as full-time nomads. Over the past three years, we have been traveling through Europe with our 22-year-old Motorhome. Please subscribe to follow along and join us on our adventure!

This is a long video and probably not for all of our regular channel viewers. (Regular vlogs will be back on Monday). BUT, if you are considering taking your motorhome to Morocco, you might find what we have learned helpful. Thanks for watching and let us know if you will be travelling to Morocco!

What wonderful advice. I love you guys. I'd love to say that we could live like you and on your budget but I fear that without an "Andre" we would struggle. I watched a youtube video today of a Welsh couple who shared their costs for a month in Spain in a Campervan and I was thinking "Now they are much more like us". Andre can do anything, fix... well everything, cook amazing meals and budget/plan. Every Campervan should have an Andre. And Lisa is alright too ;-) I'm not at all jealous, but seriously you guys seem to have such a lovely balance between healthy, wholesome, free activities and the odd indulgences like Lisa's pastries and ice creams. And you enjoy a glass (very small!) of wine with your meals and a beer with your meals when eating out. That detailed costs breakdown is brilliant. Thanks for sharing.

The best advice that Motorhomes don't know coming to Morocco is Moroccan Hammam and they exist in every city where to have proper baths and see how clean you become and very cheap you won't need to use own shower again.

My wife and I are doing a 5 week Europe/Western Balkans trip this Sumer and would love to do a Spain/Morocco trip some time so thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge. Great video Love your videos and your approach to life and travel. Thanks. I wondered about the cell phone costs / data plans etc. We recently used an eSim plan and it was excellent for data only and reasonably priced. Is that an option that you might use? Looking forward to more videos, drone footage and food shots.
@WeWillNomad
@WeWillNomad 3 ай бұрын
Yes! We are looking at eSims going forward, we only recently got ourselves phones which support it. It surely makes life a lot easier for shorter stay locations. Local sims can be a challenge in some countries due to verification requirements, but in most places it makes a lot of sense if we stay for longer. Thanks for your comment! We missed the drone a LOT 😊

Thanks for compiling all this information. It definitely looks affordable and enough to explore for a few months at a time. Have you ever looked into transiting across Algeria to Tunisia and then taking the ferry up to Italy?
@WeWillNomad
@WeWillNomad 3 ай бұрын
Tunisia is definitely on our list and makes sense from Sicily. We have not considered going via Algeria - from our understanding the border is officially closed since the mid 90s. Perhaps this will change soon.

A very informative video. Maybe a set of travel scales check weigh of gas bottles.
@WeWillNomad
@WeWillNomad 3 ай бұрын
Thanks! We tried a Mopeka gas level sensor but the bottles all had dents in the bottom so it didn't work at all (and I ended up losing the sensor in the process..) A scale would work but you would need one that can measure 28kgs if you use the large bottles!
@OnTheRoadAgain-NikkiandBilly

Thank you for a great summary. Interesting that you can use British pigtails with Moroccan gas. Do they do smaller bottles than 11 kg. Safe journeys. Will have to try catch you in Europe one day
@WeWillNomad
@WeWillNomad 3 ай бұрын
It might depend on your exact installation but the bottle thread is DIN 477 (W 21.8 x 1/14" LH). From our discussion with British travelers the Gaslow connection seem to be the same as the local bottles. You do get smaller bottles as well.

Hi Andre + Lisa, what app did you use to map and animate out your route? Thanks and lovingthe vids.

It's mult.dev/studio -To get full control you will have to buy some credits. It's quite nice for quick overview maps but we don't use it much as we usually animate our own maps.

Thank you so much for the tons of information! But sorry, I have 2 additional questions: is park4night suitable for Morocco? Why didn't you include car insurance and health insurance in the overall table? :)
@WeWillNomad

Aah yes, Our current greencard insurance already include Morocco. You will have to check with your provider or get 3rd party at the border. As full time travelers we also have International health cover. These aspect would depend on your country of origin and what existing cover you have. Thanks for watching.

Hello & thanks for all those details ! Only the part with SIMs was very confusing … what works only theoretically with INWI ? Why did you have so many cards ? Inwi for 20 Euros SHOULD have been enough (comprehensive) but you spent a total of 68 Euros for many cards …. I am confused …. what really best to do for a month ? Thanks a lot ! Kind regards Robert
@WeWillNomad
@WeWillNomad 3 ай бұрын
Hi Robert. We prefer to always have a sim card in each of our own phones. It gives us the option to navigate, contact each other or monitor our van remotely - even if we're separated. For this we got the 2 x Maroc Telecom Prepaid Cards. Initial cost from Carlos was EUR 10 per card (preloaded with 7Gb valid for 30 days). We added another 30 days worth of data for each card for about EUR 4 per sim. Then we need a sim card that stays in the motorhome in a wifi router - this is our main internet point for when we're on our laptops etc. For this we used INWI for 2 months which was EUR 20 per month. If you're only going for a month just get the Maroc Telecom prepaid card. To top it up you buy scratchcards almost anywhere. For 50 Dirham (5 Euro) you will get 5Gb valid for 30 days. If you need loads of data it's worth getting the INWI unlimited sim, but it is a bit of a hassle. Hope this helps!
