Have you tried a Mimeophon? Awesome module and this is even better in some ways. Drive, distortion, and even more playability.

Im always hesitant to say as this isnt my strong suit. I just plug stuff in and if it works it works. I plugged Minilogue (unbalanced) into it and it worked. Plugged Polyend Play into it unbalanced and it worked. Didnt have to push gain too hard either. So I guess it works well?! There is something in the manual about using trs out into line lvl equipment (if I remember correctly)

@@BoBeats balanced i/o just reduce noise introduced along the cable by electromagnetic interference. I don't know why it would matter so much. Line level is a different issue, as that is talking about input levels. I think OP is asking if the signals needed attenuation or not.

Thanks! I think some of endorphines other modules have convoluted operations (how to change settings) but this one was pretty straight forward to use.

@@BoBeats yes I’ve never really been drawn to them, personally. I probably still wouldn’t get this module. Though it does seem like it’ll be a hit with a lot of people because it checks a lot of boxes. Also, the DFAM section here really showed the power of the module. Sounded so good!

Well, there are lots of multi FX pedals around so? Ghost would definitely have some competition ;) it would also probably be quite bigger to suit the ergonomics of guitar pedals - eg mostly you would have a footswitch on/off per effect. You could have it via knobs, but again it would get bigger - especially if it should be toe-wiggleable which many guitarists need in a live situation - I'm gonna stop myself now

@@malkaviamdarkpsy it's a problem inherent in the design. You can use gain staging to somewhat eliminate the noise but not completely.

Hi Al, I saw you posts on Modwiggler about this so took a look at your video. I see you are really driving the distortion, compression, and volume overdrive hard all at the same time and I get the same noise at your levels (with unity gain). I understand your issue, but in reality I don't find it a problem. Volume at 11 o'clock drives BIA to -12db and 1 o'clock -6db with peaks at -0db. At 1 o'clock, there is just the faintest hint of noise with compression at 100%. The same test with 100% distortion is noise free at 11 o'clock volume, barely noticeable at 12 and noticeable at 1 o'clock. Adding 100% compression to 100% distortion is really testing the circuit in my opinion and having all three at 100% isn't realistic unless you want to produce noise anyway. Just my 2p and, like Bo says, there are better dedicated modules out there if budget and space allows.

@@markbooth hello there, it’s not just noisefloor I’m talking about. Driving a distortion like that will cause that and I fully understand that. I’m an electronic engineer by trade who studied electronics and understands the fundamentals of how circuits work and how noisefloor becomes apparent through amp circuits especially when overdriven. I’ve done a few videos to try and show the crackles, hissing and even pops. Even when not driving everything. There is no consistency to the levels, they bounce around at different levels even on different side of the stereo circuit. I put another video up showing the issue using absolutely zero distortion. Verb. Digital gain fully down and zero delay and 12-1pm level on the volume (as instructed by Endorphines who said im and I quote (it should be a super clean signal below 14-14.30pm on the volume knob.) The only thing on this video and test was only compression. to show it’s not just when distorted. I believe the unit I have is faulty in some way. Other units I’ve seen and spoken to people about aren’t as bad as the one I received. It’s also been tested on 3 separate power supplies. With no other modules to eliminate cross talk noise with other digital modules. This isn’t just me having a dig about a random module. I had a genuine issue which they didn’t accept and gave me no help with. Bo beats does mention the noise problem. Which seems to be a trend in endorphines modules. I was merely trying to get help with my issue.

Did you reduce the input gain? With a good gain stage you should not get any noise, just like any other music gear 😊

oh no... I love the designs and concepts of endorphines. I've also loved the idea of Golden Master, tried it and had to send it back, because it heavily flatened the sound (probably killed the depth of any sound with its 16 bit converters). Now I'm thinking about using Ghost as a dedicated Kick-rumble-module. But in your videos it looked like, the hiss 'goes down' with the lpf in the end of the routing? Maybe it won't be a problem in this scenario?
