We cannot help but agree with this. Its ironic how people like Andrew, on the Joe Rogan Experience, would innately recognise the baselessness of physicalism and naturalism, even in the way he spoke about the body, pointing to the chasm between the mind and the body without, perhaps, explicitly or even intentionally doing so.

My brother, Hamza , try to translate your books into international languages. For example, you can start with the Arabic language, because most Muslim sheikhs and preachers learned Arabic in Islamic universities. So, as a suggestion, you translate into Arabic from Sheikh Hassan Somali, then translate into Korean from Karim Kim, and into Japanese Sheikh Saeed Sato, and into Portuguese Sheikh Rodrigo, and into German from Sheikh Pierre Vogel and for French by Sheikh Eric Younous, etc.. For the good of all mankind.

This was a great explainer with the necessary detail to understand and completely dissect the statement that Huberman made. I really enjoyed it. Funny enough we recently posted a Twitter thread on this subject. The researchers confirm what you mention and that consciousness cannot be reduced to physical neural activity (or physical processes in your words) and that we should use similar tools as we would for relativistic phenomena. This is where it starts to get quantum-like and it can be slightly analogous to Rovelli’s quantum mechanics.

There is one theory called the relativistic theory of consciousness that seemingly solves this hard problem of consciousness. Simply put, it says that "brain activity and conscious experience are two sides of the same physical phenomenon being measured from different frames of reference". Would like to hear your thoughts on it.
@dhuss14
@dhuss14 Жыл бұрын
It's pathetic because it's like saying; 'We don't have the correct worldview in order to understand the transcendence of consciousness'. The 'frame of reference' is just a fancy way of saying that the 'current baseless viewpoint'; which is an utter failure. The assumptions of physicalism has, and never will, be proven. It is rooted in arrogance and is part of a wider, emotional issue with all things metaphysical due to their stinking individualism (because of the associations attached like heaven, hell, God, judgement).
@abdulrehmanmohsin7893
@abdulrehmanmohsin7893 Жыл бұрын
@@dhuss14 the theory essentially discards consciousness as a thing. It's simply an observable phenomenon in one particular frame of reference and it won't translate to other frames of references, meaning that consciousness does not exist objectively. It uses relativity to explain the "illusion" of consciousness. The world view in and of itself is therefore a consistent one. It may or may not assume physicalism but it simply discards consciousness as an illusion. Atleast that's what I got out of it.
@dhuss14
@dhuss14 Жыл бұрын
@@abdulrehmanmohsin7893 It's hogwash. Don't get caught up in the rhetoric. Physicalism is still baseless and cannot be proven on first principles, ever. This discards their conclusion. It is mere speculation as the Quran states. They're desperately trying to fit consciousness into their worldview. Also, this idea can easily be discarded through the multitude of other proofs, that consciousness is indeed transcendental. Its not hard to think of these proofs.

@@zach381 This is not my theory, its a theory recently developed by physicists. It just applies the already existing theory of relativity to the brain and consciousness. Instead of just dismissing it on face value, you will have to go through it and understand it to rebut it. The theory seems to me to have enough explanatory power without resorting to any form of dualism, a philosophical position considered to be strange and one that should not be needlessly adopted.

I love science, but not so much scientism. This is a valuable contribution to a popular discourse which is entirely dominated by one view, with little representation of the other. Modernity attempts to claim a monopoly on epistemological foundations and sources, authorising what confirms it and not even acknowledging the other guests at the table. Science can be rooted in empiricism while also acknowledging other epistemological sources, but when it insists that nothing else can be known except through only empiricism, it becomes scientism.

Hi, I wanted to ask about the statement regarding neuroscience not ever being able to address the hard problem. It seems to me, that if some neuroscientists would be able to map a person (brain/body) and create some computer simulation of the person (excluding this way his soul), that would be in every sense indistinguishable from the original person speaking on Zoom, how would that not prove physicalism? Regardless of if we believe this is possible, this seems to me as a possible way, neuroscience would be able to prove physicalism. (I think this because if there was something like a soul, but its exclusion would have no impact on the person like in the simulation, the existence of it would be ultimately pointless since it would have no effect on at least our mortal reality)
@azetaburn4491
@azetaburn4491 11 ай бұрын
Just like how Dr Hamza said in this video, even you capable of mapping the whole brain, the inner subjective consciousness that being experienced by the human cannot be replicated. Which means what you simulated as "drinking hot chocolate" is not experiencing the same experience as the specific "drinking hot chocolate" by original body. Even you successfully replicated senses as simulated sensor, the different expression of meaning for the word "hot" is individual-specific, although a pattern can be established. Thus, if we observed as a third party, we can naively assumed we successfully simulated a person, yet their experience can only be replayed like a video in simulation, where the simulation itself aren't capable of experiencing the same as original body. That's why Dr Hamza put a question: How to explain the inner subjective consciousness? The problem of explaining mind through physicalism paradigm has being highlighted through Chinese Room Argument. Even a neuroscientist, Christof Koch, lose 25 year bet to David Chalmers, a philosopher, in his race to physically explained consciousness.

The problem you mentioned about having no knowledge of the actual experiences though there is a mapping from the neurochemical activities is a general problem in communications, and collective problem solving. The analogy of the car and driver is wrong because u take a position of assuming the brain and the mind are seperate as is a driver and the car, instead the analogy should be made by comparing the modern autonomus car where the hardware provides the platform for the software. The brain is the hardware which provides the platform for the soft ware and thats why if u improves the hardware u can improve the software but if u degenerate the hardware then the improve software cannot function but adegenerated software can work on any hardware so make the conclusion

So the brain has evolved( improved hardware) and the mind can either be an improved or degenerated ( software) . So u choose to stay with the old software running on an improved hardware but dont like when ppl like me update our software to keep up with the improved hardware. But u are a blend of modern and past software because u are fortunate to have a modern education which has improved ur software but there is a program called tradition that is preventing u from fully updating. This is why u are an appologetic muslim

Lol he gave that analogy to explain correlation-causation fallacy, the driver and the car have a correlation but they are not the same. Therefore, if the mind and the brain are correlated, it does not follow that they are the same. In this lengthy comment of yours all this nonsense you spoke amounted to nothing. This is what free thinking does to you, maybe try to keep it bounded by logic.

@@freethinker4402 your entire comment is a strawman. You thought so freely that you started attacking claims that no one made. He made no assumption and was simply explaining what a particular logical fallacy is using an analogy. He was explaining freaking dictionary to you lol, it wasn't related to mind and brain stuff.

Indeed, I felt it was far too reductionist and naturalistic. We know naturalism is false and baseless.

Assalamu alaikum. Hamza doesn't have Smile2Jannah's skills and background, nor does S2J have Hamza's skills and background. Appreciate them for what they offer, not what they lack, and say alhamdulillah for their contributions, and keep your comparisons for comparison's sake to yourself. Jazakallah khair.
