I don't understand the Big 12 media's fixation that somehow the Big 10 will drop Purdue, Illinois and Indiana. Ohio State is the only non-SEC to win a BCS and playoff champion. From the Big Ten Network to inking the $7.8 billion TV deals last summer 2023, all 4 of those teams' names were on the paperwork.

Michigan did as well with their recent national championship. But for the most part you are correct. SEC and BiG10 are not going to drop schools from their conferences. Now this whole fiasco with the ACC and the Maligned 7 plus privately one or two more schools in the ACC could be recreating and reorganization of the ACC into a more profitable and financially sustainable and higher earning conference with better media revenue by dropping certain schools and keeping others, including legacy schools and add a western wing with 4-5 schools that includes the two PAC schools remaining plus SDSU and schools like Syracuse, Pitt, Louisville, SMU, GT (maybe) and Wake Forest (maybe) and Duke (maybe) and BC (maybe) are left to find a home elsewhere. I suspect if it is about reorganization of the ACC, while numbers and results would say Pitt, Louisville, Wake Forest, and BC should be kept, the Tobacco Road Schools would definitely be kept together; and Notre Dame would heavily influence that BC be retained. That would mean Syracuse, Pitt, Louisville, and GT would go to the Big12 most likely. SMU would have to go back to AAC or try for MWC or perhaps Sun Belt. It is a reason but not the reason SMU did what they did to get in the ACC. If it doesn’t work out, they are none the worse for where they are or were. I have routinely suggested that the potential of a 2-2-2 departures to three different conferences will take place. But the 2 departures to the Big12 conference may not happen until 30/31-32 time frame with the new CFP contract extension expiring around that time. Regardless I am of the opinion and knowledge and speculation that the ACC will not implode and will remain a conference and an A4 conference but will look different in the future.

Because the networks aren’t giving the Big Ten that pile of money for those four schools. They are just already in the conference. The ONLY reason the Big Ten gets the money they get is because of Ohio State, Michigan and the Penn State’s in that league. If you stripped away Indiana, Northwestern, Purdue, etc. those brand schools like Ohio State would still get pretty much the same offer from the networks (it would be a bit less only due to the fact they need enough content). But Ohio State would then still make more individually since there would be fewer schools to share with. It’s just funny folks from those schools like Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Kentucky, etc. that think they are special. No you just were lucky to be in one of those two leagues already. Those two leagues truly don’t need those schools from a money making standpoint.

75% of the teams in the Big10 and SEC wouldn't agree to this. They make more now than they would in this 80 team format. The top brands would get all the money. Teams like missouri, iowa, Arkansas, Purdue, Wisconsin would all make less and the lions share would go to the oh st, bama, ga, and Michigan type schools. Tv contracts would be even more heavily skewed than they already are and there is no way the big10 and sec would agree to equal shares with teams like Iowa st

The Big 10 isn't dropping Iowa, Purdue and Wisconsin. I'm an Ohioan. We knew that they're in the Big 10 when we signed those $7.8 billion TV deals in summer 2023. They're part of the package.
@mikef3896
@mikef3896 2 ай бұрын
@CarlaJenkinsTV I'm not saying they would drop them. But this 80 team super league gets rid of conferences. So if teams like Iowa and Purdue got lumped into a division with Ohio st and Michigan, all the tv revenue would go to the bigger brands. That's why I was saying that there is no way the teams in the big10 or sec would agree with this format
@roris5882
@roris5882 2 ай бұрын
@@mikef3896 Why would they have to get rid of conferences to do this? Obvious they would need to rework the TV contracts and that's why it's never going to happen. The B1G and SEC creating a 50 Team Super League is more likely because the TV networks will double the current playoff revenue for that deal.
@mikef3896
@mikef3896 2 ай бұрын
@roris5882 I think the big10 and sec should get to 48 and do their own thing. This 80 team super league proposal gets rid of conferences all together and just does 8, 10 team divisions. They want to get rid of conferences and have everyone together, mostly for lawsuit purposes. It's too many teams and no way they would agree to it.
@becks89
@becks89 2 ай бұрын
Ultimately this will come down to the 25% who will determine whether this happens or not. Florida State, Clemson, USC, Texas, OU and others were motivated to jump to other conferences because they disparity in pay in their respective conferences were in their mind "holding them back" so might the 25% of the brand schools find a Super League attractive. This is very viable because the lower tier schools would agree to this rather then get left behind if the top 24 schools decided to just form their own league.

2024 newly aligned P4 conferences, looking back on 50 years of Natty’s, including those shared, leaves only Big12’s (2), Brigham Young & Colorado, as a champ outside the ACC (13), B1G (13), SEC (24). Should Miami, FSU & Clemson depart the ACC for B1G or SEC, it’s pretty clear there’s a P2 that may need to separate from the others. Poach the best from BIG12 & ACC, have 24 teams each, and the $’s will determine the future.
@Mr.Ed_Wayner
@Mr.Ed_Wayner 2 ай бұрын
IMO FBS should just break into 3 divisions. The P2 division, the P3&4 divisions and the FBS division.Each would have their own 8 team playoff. The 3 winner plus a wild card would then meet up for a 4 FBS championship similar to how the AFL played the NFL before the leagues merged.

Here's my thought on things: The BIG is now at 18-teams and need six more to get to "SUPER CONFERENCE" Status (24 teams), and here's how I see it playing out. #1. The BIG wants Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia because of "LOCATION"..."LOCATION"..."LOCATION" (Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, Richmond etc...), that plus their academics and AAU status!!! #2. High School Football Recruiting!!! #3. Georgia Tech OFFERS more to the BIG then Rutgers did then and/or does now... At least Georgia Tech has a Winning History!!! "NEWS FLASH"... PLUS, they'll get/take Cal and Stanford "CHEAP" after the collapse of the ACC... For the SAME Damn Reasons!!! Now their footprint is Coast-to-Coast, and they will have MOST of the Major TV Markets, PLUS, and this is The BIG Reason, they are "NOW", in "The HEART of DIXIE"!!! That's their plan to create one of two 24-Team Semi-Pro Super Conferences and EXIT the NCAA! The SEC counters by taking Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina State and Virginia Tech with the latter two teams helping to encroach into BIG Territory!!! After taking the four ACC Schools (Florida and South Carolina have ZERO to say about the additions of Clemson and FSU, just like Arkansas, Missouri and Texas A&M had ZERO to say about the addition of Texas... It's a "If You Don't Like It... You're FREE to Leave the SEC ANYTIME you'd like). To get to a 24-Team Super Conference, the SEC would need to add four more teams, and since MOST of the SEC are Land Grant Institutions, NONE of the Metro Schools left in the ACC fill the bill... After all, it's about "Making and KEEPING as much money as you possibly can, and to HELL with the rest of" College Athletics"!!! New BIG: EAST POD: Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Rutgers, Virginia. LAKES POD: Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue. PLAINS POD: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Wisconsin. WEST POD: California, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington. Central POD: Arkansas, Kansas, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Missouri. WEST POD: Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Utah. What's left of the ACC, the Big (Little) 12-2 +4, the PAC-12 minus 10, the G-5 conferences and Notre Dame will create Eight New Regional Conference with 10-12 Teams under the NCAA Banner. Here's a possible Eight Conference League with Eleven Teams (Would need to add Three more FCS Schools to get to Eleven Schools), in each conference. AAC: Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, James Madison, Liberty, Marshall, Troy. NEW ACC: Army, Boston College, Buffalo, Charlotte, Duke, Navy, ODU, Temple, U-Mass, *Villanova*, Wake Forest. Big 11: Baylor, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas State, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Rice, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech, Tulsa. CUSA: Central Florida, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Louisville, Memphis, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, South Florida, Syracuse, U-Conn, West Virginia. MAC: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami of Ohio, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo, Western Michigan. MWC: Air Force, BYU, Colorado State, *Montana*, New Mexico State, North Texas, *South Dakota State*, Texas State, UTEP, UTSA, Wyoming. NEW PAC: Arizona State, Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV, Utah State, Washington State. Sunbelt: Arkansas State, Louisiana Lafayette, Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee State, Sam Houston State, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, UAB, Western Kentucky. Time to get this ESPN, FOX, BIG and SEC Money Hungry ARROGANCE over with... Send them ALL Packing... REFUSE to play any of them in the future!!! They wanted their EXCLUSIVE Conferences and Playoffs, let them have it! The NCAA should disassociate themselves from both conferences as well and EXCLUDE all the schools in those two EXCLUSIVE Super Conferences (Semi Pro Leagues), from the NCAA Basketball Tournament as well as other "College Sports", going forward! Let ESPN create a Separate Basketball Tournament for them!!! The other 80+ FBS Schools have ZERO NEED to continue to play the BIG and SEC in any sports going forward and WILL Survive with their own "COLLEGE SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIPS"!!!

So, Fox isn't going to pay for the #9 tv rated team (FSU) in the country with avg of 4.16 M per game (playing many lousy ACC teams), and 9.17 M vs LSU, go into one of the fastest growing states they don't have football tv presence in, and strengthen what is still a weaker conference game schedule than the SEC...got it....Big10 should love to add a team rated scholastically higher than half their existing teams, in one of the most fertile recruiting states in the country, that has a ton of retired Big10 alumni located in...aau or not..

@@troywest7045 Every team and program is different...there is no precedent to consider. FOX wants into Florida/NC way more than Oregon and Washington....and the SEC couldnt give a crap about those two states, but dont want the BIG10 in the South. Plus the FSU brand is way stronger than Oregon or Washington. FSU, NC are not making the move without assurances they are in at full share. Somewhere. Half share with the payoff most likely required to the ACC, is probably net 0.

When i get the new NCAA game, im going to make comferences using the historical makeup of what they used to be with a few tweaks. Basically the old big 10, pac 10, and sec before they expanded. Swc minus rice, but add memphis and tulane. Big 8 plus byu and utah. The big east with ND and Penn st. The acc with maryland and south carolina back in the fold. Its simple and pretty even in competition with each conferences having a blueblood or 2.

I know you guys have to find things to talk about out, but as presented this is dead on arrival. 1) It’s an obvious control/money grab by a bunch of professional sports guys to take over college football. 2) There is NO WAY the Big ten, SEC, even Big 12, is gonna approve it. 3) No need. Just go with a Tier 1 Power 3 Conference landing spot like Mark Roger’s did over at The Voice of College Football. 3 conferences with 24 teams each with a 16 team playoff and a Tier 1 commissioner and commissioners office to oversee it rotating commissioners between all 3 conferences. That’s 72 teams. The other 60+ Div 1 teams can have their own conferences and own Tier 2 playoff. Every 5-8 years they can have a lookin clause that reevaluates the structure. Simple. No need for Tier 1 conference championship games since the top 5 teams in each conference will be in the 16 team playoff. Use the last spot as a wildcard to go with the next most deserving Tier 1 team.

Clemson on the other hand, would take some doing to acquire AAU Status, and culturally, they fit the SEC! Utah would fit the profile of either the BIG or SEC in many regards, but IMHO, they are more of a "Good Ol Boy" University, and that is a BIG reason they fit better in the SEC! The fact of the matter is, "COLLEGE FOOTBALL" is being destroyed by peoples GREED and the All-Mighty Dollar!!! And the 72-80 teams being mentioned for the Super League is nothing more than a popularity contest of schools that are already in the P-5 conferences, when all of us could name several teams in each that have NO Business being elevated to such status, while other more deserving teams are being left out! The Super League may be decided by the SEC, Big 10, ESPN, and Fox. But, whether CFB is sustainable will depend on the fans nationwide regardless of these conferences and media organizations. Fans still have the nuclear option of taking college athletics including football to the United States Congress to control and manipulate every aspect of collegiate athletics and the media rights. There are already significant controls on colleges and universities held by Congress. As far as media rights are concerned, I am sure the FCC can have some influence on media companies with some motivation. 2024 is still in a political cycle that could destroy media rights. So, they had better play their political game well or all college athletics will come crashing and burning to the ground.

(After the ACC implodes) Perhaps the litigation should be against Fox and ESPN for not wanting to large amounts of money for the games of BC, Syracuse, or Wake? Ridiculous ruling by courts are why NIL and transfers are out of control right now. By the way, name one single time that the SEC or B1G cried to government.
