Great tail-gate tutorial. It's definitely unusual for bigger trucks to use automatic transmissions, however, only Allison makes those industrial strength slush boxes and Allison is top notch. I know you were skeptical at first but the proof is there now. An automatic transmission is, in my opinion, much better suited for industrial work anyway due to its natural hydraulic coupling and they all employ a stator in the torque converter to multiply torque needed for getting the heavy vehicle moving from a standstill. Manual trans rely on granny gears and split gearing to overcome that issue while every auto tranny has a natural ability to get a heavy truck moving smoothly from a standstill. The options on that Ford are perfect. You didn't even know it at first, but you bought one of the best little dump trucks available when u got that thing.

andrew watching your videos here on youtube its like going back to when i used to go to work with my father since he drove a dumptruck but his was a 99 international with the dt466e motor in it with 5 speed manual man i still remember the first time i ask him to show me how to work the pto and pretty much got hooked on that til i started working the electric tarp. Luckily i just use the passenger side mirror and from the cb radio going it was hard not to fall asleep. Man every morning about 6:45 am i was glad when the motor cranked over cause i didnt want to go back in and grab the keys to a older ford f700 gas motor dt with no radio /hvac. heck the dumptruck had everything manual including the windows.

That blue/gray gravel is really nice looking stuff. We have a whole bunch of quarries around here and they all produce different rock. The one right here in town has a very light almost white stone which looks fairly nice. There's one about 30 minutes away though that has beautiful gray rock similar to this and its the cleanest stuff with very little fine pieces in it.

Great video brotha....question for ya...why wouldn't you build your base with "crush run" type rock? Instead of larger stone? I find that if I am scraping and resurfacing my driveway (gravel 1200 feet ish) I find that if I have a larger stone I'll not get a smooth finished product for the drive...now for farm roads!! yes big stone works great...what are your thoughts ??
@AndrewCamarata5 жыл бұрын
Yes, that is best. Here it isn't needed because there is bed rock just under the mud. If you are in a very muddy area, start with road fabric, than put stone down in layers, starting with biggest stone.
