Join International Cricket Commentator, Andrew Leonard, as he embarks on a journey to witness the remarkable progress at Extratech Oval, the latest addition to Nepal's cricket landscape. From the laying of the foundation stone in June 2023 to its inauguration on February 26, 2024 this state-of-the-art cricket ground in Rupandehi's Bhairahawa has been rapidly taking shape.
Former cricketer and project ambassador, Shakti Gauchan joined me and filled me in on the progress of the construction, emphasizing the various stages it has progressed through to be on the brink of readiness for play today and what the hopes and plans for the international stadium of the future are.
With some similarities to the famous Kevin Costner movie, where the Baseball Field of Dreams gets ploughed through an Iowan cornfield, this time it's the Wheat Fields of Southern Nepal that provide the backdrop for what could be Nepal's next international cricket venue.
