I had my own studio from 1979 to 1989. Analog 2 inch M56 running 30ips at plus six at zero. The old 811 Urei monitors and 24/16 Tangent console. I got out of the business but now I want back in. This will be the first studio tour I can actually relate to. Some of the other modern tours frankly I'm lost. Let the video begin. So that was incredible. Thank you for bringing me home again. Wish me luck on getting neck deep into recording again in 2022..

I found a home with a 4000 square foot unfinished basement. I'm working on my dream again. I want a Neve but probably shouldn't spend that kind of money. I'm also looking at a Trident console. Possibly looking at getting the MCI 16 or 24 and a MCI 2 track. Hopefully I'll be a MARA customer in 2022. Any thoughts on an updated Trident console ? The reason I want to start out analog is because it is what I know. Then as I get my chops back I can get some training and add modern technology to the studio. Thanks for any advice. 😎

You should go tour the recording studio I grew up going to that my dad worked at. It’s very different that all the studios I’ve seen on your channel. Very minimalist, with everything perfectly laid out and custom designed, custom rooms for everything, and the only cables you can see are the ones you are using. Tons of vintage instruments lining the walls as you go between rooms. And the owner always had to have the best of the best at all times. Constantly upgrading to the newest versions of everything. It’s both audio and video. Cloud nine productions. I think you’d enjoy touring it. Though I haven’t been there in many years. Owner is super nice. Always treated me like family even though I was just the little kid of a bottom tier employee.

This of course is as right up my hybrid old school analog alley as you can get. Now comes the small task of saving up for coming to Nashville, recording, mixing and mastering some of my music and have it end up in a format presentable to the world. Sort that tommorow, no worries. XD

Awesome space. One thing I noticed is the drop ceiling in the large control room. He mentioned they get 110dB at the listening position. I have a large main room with a drop ceiling as well. At 110dB the ceiling is rattling like crazy with any material with any low freq content. At some point that ceiling is going to be rattling... they are very lucky if they get that sound level.

@@rjb7569 it’s kinda crazy when inflation is taken into account. We used to shell out $20+ for CD’s. Or $16 for a 180g in the 80’s. But now we complain that $30 for an LP is too much. It is hard at times to justify when Amazon HD can get pretty close when connected to the right equipment.

Within the first 2 minutes of the video I know his wifi password and how to get access through his front door. Is security not a thing in that part of the world?

Ha! everyone here is welcome to use our wifi - the door code is changed often so the space is secure!

i thought they would have had a second lot of gear for the mastering room rather than pull pieces from the mix room
@welcometo1979

Gav- we do! there's a Manley Massive Passive and other outboard gear in the mastering room. (scroll back to the mastering room tour). we mentioned that we pull certain pieces from the control room for special 'live to vinyl' sessions, such as the Undertone Audio Unfairchild.

@@welcometo1979 yeah i mis heard that bit i was thinking the scenario where there would be 2 different projects at once but in that live to vinyl scenario its one project using both rooms. i get it. amazing place

Really nice gear, but I can't help feel a little claustrophobic looking at all these rooms with no windows to the outside world. Anybody else?

Art was more impressive before we as a country use Hitler’s theories and argue Kent’s. It is clear arts save lives. Today few civic centers are filled with goods even to give to children to raise a perfect order in social sciences of the neurons . Too bad USA has not utilized any arts, these are what Yelp a further future. Arts drives other countries and music especially. Music is the first sounds of a homo sapient. Until you know what animals you are and are not, you will never ever be rid of socialism, poverty, and communism which actually has its moment numbered. All communist countries have greater areas where only freedom is used by the people and all such systems are actually a people at war with self forever and a force at global warfare. Practice the arts 🎭👱🏿👩🏼‍🦳👩🏼‍🦳👳🏿‍♂️👳🏽👳🏻‍♀️👩🏼💋💋👂👁👃🏾👅🫀🧠
