Thanks, Taylor. Coincidentally, I ate at the Steakhouse KL for the first time just two nights ago. Best steak I've ever had in Malaysia. The largest bill I've ever had in Malaysia, too. I then sat outside at the Whiskey Bar KL and had a few beers with friends. All in all, I enjoyed it greatly. I am a regular at Souled Out, but I always frequent the the one at Desa Sri Hartamas... All this, and I am not even a resident of MY... Yet. Just visiting from the USA every few months while waiting for MM2H to become affordable again.

Steak is expensive in malaysia. We are not australia, Argentina or texas. We do not hv enough cows for beef. So we import the meat.

When we're in KL the Cinnamon Coffee house located in the One World Hotel is a nice place for a buffet lunch. The spread is Western and Asian and seniors get a discount too! Another place is Mitasu Japanese Restaurant on Old Klang Road an all you can eat Japanese buffet. Reservations are required (lunch or dinner) and seniors also get a discount - 50%! For some nice Spanish food - El Cerdo (The Pig) for suckling pig or Martha's Kitchen for a yummy Spanish paella! Don't know if you've tried Bak Kut Teh which is served in clay pots, this herbs-infused broth and pork meat warrants a trip to Klang.

Hey Taylor, we just spent February in KL and love Souled Out in the Linc for dinner! Dined there often and really enjoyed the mushroom pizza and lasagna! Great wine by the glass Sauv Blanc and Cabernet from Argentina also at 30 ringgit. Great vibe with the music videos and great service too!

Best food I had in KL was at Damascus restaurant close to the Pavilion mall right next to the mono rail . They serve Syrian food and it was unbelievable how good it was .There is long line up to get a seat in the restaurant but if you just want a shawarma the take out line wasn’t to bad . We walked by the place many times but the lines were so long we decided to go elsewhere. But one night we said we just got to wait in line all these local people lined up must be on to something good . Boy was it worth the wait best Middle East food I have had anywhere in the world. And I have to say the price was very reasonable. They are building a new place just around the corner closer to Pavilion that is 4 times bigger so hopefully the lines won’t be so long next time I go . You should go and see if they let you film in there and do a review they probably won’t mind the free publicity

Taylor looking quite perky today. You always share with your viewers. Today I will offer a counter-recommendation. Secret Recipe is a restaurant franchise in Malaysia that has some of the best cakes and meat pies. A big selection of the yummiest cakes and pies to take home. You can dine in too. The menu is equally nice, especially the prices

Nice places and I go to a few of them as well. And I agree with your findings. Horizon grill is outrageous in price and mediocre at best. Raft is a nice hangout for brunch indeed. I only know the Brussels cafe in Bangsar South, haven’t been to the one here in KLCC, will definitely try it out (I mean, a glass of wine for 15 ringgit is a no brainer😂). If I may add a few suggestions: For breakfast / brunch, go to Broom Artisan Bakery, superb service and food. Or Bray Bakery at Jalan Tun Razak near the Linc. At the Linc is a plce with arguably the best Ramen in KL, Maruki Ramen. It’s really as good as you’d get in Japan itself. But be aware, it’s spicy and I mean really spicy. Yeast Bistronomy at Telawi in Bangsar is our all time favorite for brunch or dinner. If you like the real French brasserie style, nothing beats Yeast. In short: KL is spoilt for choices fo excellent food, be it local food or Western food or any kitchen in the world!

The most expensive dinner is less than USD200 is still cheaper if you use dollars but there are exotic Malay restaurants which are not fancy at all but serve hard to get freshwater fishes, games or mushrooms. For those restaurants expect to spend four figures or over two hundred dollars.

Dinner for 4 of us at the night coffee shop / restaurant is about RM50-60 per outing so if we eat at the post restaurant it will costs roughly RM200-250 per meal. RM50 per person is reasonable but there is no fun eating alone.

@@andrewtaylor4558 Well Andy, Here around Portland Oregon Fine dining and owner-operated restaurants pretty much disappeared after 2020 and the only dining options left are the big burger chains which were packed until burger combos went to $20 to $30. A few owner operated Chinese places that serve rubbish and lotto bars toss frozen boxes in the microwave or deep fryer to get the license. There's a few places to get Waygu burger, I've seen them at a fast food chain but more out of the freezer burger rather than quality boutique crafted burger, and at 2 or three times the price. Eggs Benedict, I've not seen an eggs Benedict of that quality with fresh baked in-house bread and properly poached eggs in many years, last I recall was at a top-rated restaurants at a premium hotel in Redondo Beach 20+ years ago A Paris trained Chef from London did it and it was as good or better then your EB. He had a Blue Corn meatloaf dinner with whipped potatoes that was voted #1 meal by the LA Times three years in a row. Denny's may still offer something they market as Eggs Benedict but it won't be what you got. I recall ordering Eggs Benedict as a trendy place in Portland a few years ago with a friend I met for breakfast for about $20 and, and it was two fried eggs on wonder bread with soybean based Hollandaise Sauce. Smoked Duck Salad? Not a chance around here but maybe in Vancouver Canada, or possibly in an upscale place in L.A. or San Deigo. Wood Fired Pizza? Many places on the west coast offered it 10 to 20 years years ago, but hardly anyone seems to goes out with friends for to enjoy the company of friends and family. Just before Thanks Giving, I suggested to two friends from out of town meet at one of the top rated hotels in Oregon that had one of the top-rated restaurants, with a real Italian wood fired pizza oven that used to be the rage. As we walked past an abandoned homeless campsite at the front door with weeks of trash and and dried human leftovers (I have pictures) and asked if they still did pizza and salads, and the manager said they had to stop doing wood fired pizza due to city climate change. She said the Chef was sick along with most of the staff but she could heat something up up in the microwave like wings and cheese sticks. Sadly, that's not uncommon now. Most people who want Pizza, never go out to eat it, they simply call for delivery. Duck Confit? how many Americans know what that is, much less have seen it? I'm guessing Maybe in Louisiana or Florida? I did a search online for Duck Confit in Portland and San Fransisco and Seattle and while there's dozens of Yelp listings, only one place in San Fransisco actually had it on the menu but I did see Duck Confit tacos at one other place. Roti Chani? Yea, you can likely find it at an Indian restaurant here and there, but it likely won't be the same or as good as you will find at a very average place in Penang. Taylor's home kitchen dishes? I grew-up on European style home-cooking done Louisiana and Tex-Mex style to your dishes looked like what my mom and grandmothers used to make, and something we we might only seen here. I'd love to see you prepare them all. And if i was there, I love to help you produce the segments. I produced a few cooking TV show episodes here and really enjoyed it I tried to talk the host into doing a format of a Malaysian cooking show I use to love in the late 80's/90s. It was hosted by an Indian Chef who would invite professional chefs but usually people like yourself Andy to cook their home-style meals their family's loved. He was a remarkable conversationalist who delved into the making of the meals the guest cooks, their family and connection to food. It was recorded before a small intimate audience who he involved in the cooking, serving and dining where he would invite audience members to dine and converse about different cultures and bring food culture together. It was unique and engaging Andy and something l imagine you would host in a similar way If anyone knows the show I mentioned, I'd love to know the name of it and the host.

You lost me immediately - my favorite KL restaurants are vegan or at least vegetarian. There seem to be more and more of these. And they are the healthiest!!
