My daughter and I both did as well. He has been our favorite player since 2018. He has so much self doubt and for him to come through on the big occasion was really wonderful to see. Hope he carries confidence from this victory with him into future big tournaments. As for Rune. He is going to win plenty I would expect. Variety, power, court coverage, confidence. Him and Alcarez should end up having a nice rivalry.

Rune is a very talented tennis player but he has a vile personality which makes it hard to root for him. And I don't feel that it's just because he's young. Look at Carlitos by contrast. Rune just strikes me as the sort of person who uses racist and homophobic language in casual conversation.

@@ribtickle4143 Does that matter? Rublev also like that in the match, screaming cursing once he made a mistake. It's such a common thing on tour, they're super competitive. Why hating on a young guy like that? If you really watch the match, you should see that he was really uncomfortable right after took the break on set 3. Once I saw that, I think Rublev will going to win. On and off the court they're different, compare to 2021 he already much more mature. You should watch him play that then, lol. I used to dislike player that screaming and cursing all the time. But after watching Tennis long enough and love the sport, I started to understand their feeling.
