Notes to those doing this to make things easier: 1. The cupholder area doesn't need to come out at all. Ignore that part. 2. The trim piece with the start button doesn't need to come off, but it does make it a little easier to get your hands where they need to be. 3. Don't forget to plug your reverse camera wire back in or you're going to have to rip it open again 😢

From your demo it looks like this completely replacing the original infotainment system. Could you clarify if this is simply an add on menu selection and you still land on the standard iDrive home page or if it replaces that?

No it doesn't replace the OEM menu - it is still there and you can come back to it whenever you want using the iDrive controller.

So music played through spotify will be sent to the MMI prime using wifi then the mmi prime will send an analogue signal to factory head unit via AUX? So the MMI prime has an internal DAC which converts the audio from digital to analogue? I have an aftermarket audio system and want to keep the signal fully digital all the way to the MOST pre amp and DSP amplifier, I don't want the audio converted to analogue then back to digital, can you please explain how the MMI will pass audio? Hi Emalio! Sorry for late reply! So, answering for the first two questions - That is true! It sounds like you have quite an audio system in there and in this case if you want to retain the full fidelity of the MOST output. If you're an iPhone user and your BMW is compatible with an NBT EVO retrofit - it will be the way to go to keep your audio on MOST and get CarPlay. If you're on android - it might be possible to keep the audio output from your phone on Bluetooth to the head unit while using the MMI. We haven't tested it as there are so many different builds of Android Auto for different phones - it would be difficult to confirm ahead of time. iPhones just don't let you do that, while some Android phones do. So will this run the latest Android auto where you can have the split screen view? Not just the clock? Spotify can be on the right side of the screen while maps or whatever else is on the left hand side?

Yes, this works on newsy updates. It switches to Spotify on the right if you have Google maps turned on, or to Google maps on the right of you have Spotify.

Is it possible to change the "blue" background color? I know with the Stock CarPlay you can go full screen, can Android Auto utilize the entire screen for a map, or will it always be in split mode? Will Touchscreen work with Android Auto?

Yes, you can change your wallpaper. The original Android Auto will take up up to 80% of the screen - you'd most likely need coding to unlock the full screen mode. Our retrofit on the other hand provides AA full screen by default. The touchscreen works only with the OEM Android Auto. If you'd retrofit it with a kit like ours the touchscreen capability would be unavailable.

My Supra doesn’t have Apple CarPlay so would this add both Apple CarPlay and wireless Apple CarPlay or just the standard CarPlay ?

The MMI module adds CarPlay with wireless and wired functionality, as well as Android Auto and screen mirroring solution.

Not with this retrofit unfortunately. Only OEM Android Auto will be compatible with the HUD.

Hello Micheal! Absolutely not! You don't lose the bluetooth capabilities, since Mmi Prime is a separate device. The connection with the phone is held by in-built WIFI antenna :) Cheers!

Only OEM Android Auto works with a touchscreen. If your head unit is MGU (iDrive 7.0) you can activate Android Auto in your car: www.bimmer-tech.net/category-bmw-android-auto-activation. If older, like NBT EVO ID5/6, the only option is to add Android Auto retrofit without a touchscreen capability.

If you switch to an OEM iDrive menu, yes. In the MMI menu, no.

I dont get why you have to code it, can you explain that part? So what if an international buyer buys that kit, he installs the hardware, he is not good to go because he still has to 'code it'? So he cannot hear music from his iPod or Smartphone? He cannot use Android Auto? Basically I wanna know, if I was to order this kit and install it myself, WITHOUT coding, can I: - use Android Auto, (dont care wireless or via the USB connection) - still play music from my iPod or smartphone like before? thx

Remote coding session is important for those Supras which don't have an AUX input, as all sound coming through your Android Auto works via AUX. You can learn more about remote coding here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e8t-qpl-teDUk58.html
