I've been planning to travel to my friend from childhood's grave. The lyrics for this song seem to describe the journey I'm yet to make. I haven't seen his grave for about 30 years. This will be on the soundtrack I make to get there.

Great to know that she's still around. I bought her single "some things still stick in your mind" back in the 60's, and kept it for decades. Sadly all my collection now gone.

Just discovered her about a year ago, just realized today that she isn’t from the current music world. Incredible, ahead of her time in my opinion.

Only just discovered this lady today via a cover of Train Song. Another example of the depth of talent at the time. I don’t want to slag off the current crop of commercially successful British singer-songwriters, but I can’t help it when there are so many who didn’t become a household name and wrote much better songs. Maybe though its turned out better for her. She still looks good now, and here (in her sixties?) she still has an exceptional voice.

Traveling north, traveling north to find you Train wheels beating, the wind in my eyes Don't even know what I'll say when I find you Call out your name, love, don't be surprised It's so many miles and so long since I've met you Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you But suddenly now I know where I belong It's many hundred miles and it won't be long It won't be long It won't be long It won't be long Nothing at all in my head to say to you Only the beat of the train I'm on Nothing I've learned all my life on the way to you One day our love, it's over and gone It's so many miles and so long since I've met you Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you But suddenly now I know where I belong It's many hundred miles and it won't be long It won't be long It won't be long It won't be long What will I do if there's someone there with you? Maybe someone you've always known How do I know I can come and give to you? Love with no warning and find you alone It's so many miles and so long since I've met you Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you But suddenly now I know where I belong It's many hundred miles and it won't be long It won't be long, it won't be long, it won't be long

Could someone write down what she says at the beginning? I think she's explaining the story of the song. A gift from a friend of her??? Please, someone - Thanks.

Vashti talks about Alasdair Clayre, a poet ten years older than she, who, when she was a young student, left poems in the milk bottles outside her door. He was is love with her, we must suppose. These uncharitable days he might be described as a bit of a stalker, Clayre was a brilliant and talented but, it would seem, tragically flawed individual who committed suicide at the age of 49.
