In this interview, I decided to just let Andy Gonzalez and Manny Oquendo talk shop. Manny, who was hard of hearing and did not want to participate initially and said he just wanted to sit in, decided otherwise, as you can hear. Andy beautifully involved him in such a way, he did not even notice it! ;) Here, they talk Latin dance music in the 40's, being paid for scale, Chano Pozo, Tito Puente, Machito, Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez, Miguelito Valdes, the Brothers Morales, Pupi Campo, the dance- halls, like the Palladium, the Audubon Ballroom, the Gloria Palace, Versailles, and much more. I just took it all in, like a kid in the candy-store. Two humble giants, both of them, with such a wealth of experience and information, all wrapped into their love of Latin music!
