Andy is the kind of guy that makes me not want to give up studying jazz and figuring out stuff while being patient with the process. Great motivation.

You are one of my favorite pianists of all time. I bought your Tons of Runs book years ago, and I used to study your Yamaha Diskclavier recording (I think it was a Bill Evans tribute). Thank you so much for your great contributions to the art!

If you haven't already done so, check out Andy's Reharms and Contrafacts 1 on My Music Masterclass with Jerry Bergonzi. Andy gives meaningful insight and musical direction/instruction into his reharm with the late great John Abercrombie (listen to their version on KZfaq too!). Jerry's videos are equally educational, insightful, and inspiring as well. As a music educator, I find this masterclass to be a great resource for all young players. I have studied with Andy for quite some time now. I highly recommend him if you are a student of jazz like me. Check out Chords in Motion as well!

1) I kind of prefer his B section. 2) He ends the second A (before going into his solo) on an Absus13 chord i.e. an unresolved V7/IV --- that's hip!

i didn't notice the second one - that's actually SICK and i am stealing it

'Comping', I believe I read 20-some odd years ago in Jamey Aebersold's 'Rhythm Section Workout', is short for 'complimenting'.

That would be compl-e-menting rather than compl-i-menting, surely! In other words, “completing”, providing what would otherwise be missing, making a “whole”. “Accompanists” accompanying may or may not be doing that!
