I met Sting on the prior tour of 2007. I was working as a stagehand and he was sitting down by himself watching us set up the stage. Against better judgement I went up to him and we had a ten minute conversation. As I left I made him laugh loud with "Elvis has just left the building and you are next. Nervous?" as we spent a huge chunk of our conversation over Elvis Costello& the Imposters who opened the show. This was after Elvis's soundcheck I believe. The Police played a blues jam at soundcheck.

I didn’t realize till many years after the Police hit that Andy was older than Sting and Stewart. I mean Andy came out of that same London scene as Page, Beck, Clapton, et al. Regatta de blanc or white reggae. Is a smashing album just one incredible song after another. But my favorite 2 songs on the album. And there are 2 of the catchest songs you will ever hear. The first one always brings me to tears. I don't know why but it does. And they make this hair on my necj stand up. Does everyone stare and one of the greatest drum beats of all time on contact. Two mine blowing songs. The beds too big without you bring on the night to other killer songs. If you want to learn White reggae this is the album to get that four on the floor. This album changed my life from a drumming standpoint.
@backslash686 ай бұрын
The only weak song in the album is On any other day, somehow it is a funny song and something different from the rest, with Stewart's lead voice, but it would fit more a Klark Kent album. Plus, it's got a lyric line which sounds a bit at the edge of what was acceptable back then, and would be unacceptable today ("my fine young son has turned out gay")

She did a singer-songwriter album a few years age - Love Remains - with Jeremy Stacey (King Crimson), Benmont Tench (Tom Petty), and Blake Mills (just about everybody, as a producer and studio man). Then she toured it with a different but also excellent band, who stretched out on the songs Sixties/Seventies-style. But that solo career never took off; the album was quite good but didn't really sell. Her fans might have expected fusion technical fireworks, but were confronted by a set of sad love songs, played at a very high but not show-offy level. So I guess she went back to playing sessions and tours as a sidewoman.
