Great lesson. The chord subs make it a lot more interesting. This song is one of my favorites and is easy to play.

I enjoyed your lesson as I enjoyed the previous ones. Unfortunately the chord chart of "Things ain't..." at your website does not open up -> error message.

Hi Fred, this is the version :kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rd1nodl0zLvTk4k.html He's on Benny Carter's recording of it, I think you can see the album it's part of on the image on that video. Had a quick look on itunes and couldn't see it.

Wouldn't playing these variations trip up the person playing the melody, or is this just something that is discussed/decided on before playing this with others?

That's a really good point Jay. Yes, with anything like this you have to be careful of the melody and what others are playing. Sometimes in this situation I'd make sure everyone agrees on the 'basic' changes. In other times you might chuck in the odd variation, but again being careful to make sure it fits with what everyone else is doing.

F6/9 should be 7fr not 8fr as written in your chord chart ;-)
