Andy, You can get Vivitar batteries and chargers for very cheap. They have a few milliamps more, so they last just a little bit longer. I use them in my GoPro and Canon Cameras

Torque goes up from 55nm to 100nm which equals 81%. Not 3 times but still a blast to drive!

Ah yes, I said 3 times as I couldn’t remember. The power output doubles I think. Based on the amps anyway 😁

Never mind. Great kart to enjoy. I still have the original wheels but I manage with those for now. Furthermore I swapped stabi rubbers, added the PowerBox and actualy balanced the oem wheels which makes a great difference for those who want to keep those!

Hi, Andy - I have a quick question. How is it that you´re able to drive your (excellent) Twizy on the road without mudguards? Is it because the Twizy´s legally a quadricycle? I was wondering whether I might be able to drive one on a motorcycle licence.

Hey Andy, I’ve been looking at getting a Twizy to commute to and from work but I’ve been given mixed opinions on the range. There isn’t a way I can charge at the office. It’s a 30 mile round trip. Realistically what sort of mileage have you got out of it? I’m aware there’s a whole load of factors that need to be taken into account, road, tyres, temperature, speed etc....

It’s doable but you’ll have to go easy, watch this from about 5:50 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nrKkbNqcu8m-poE.html Get a powerbox and run it in ECO mode. In the summer it’ll be fine, in the winter the range drops quite a bit, you can help this in the cold months by having your car charge on a smart plug that charges the majority when you get home and then tops up the last say 30% just before you leave in the morning, that way the battery heats up a bit and the range won’t be affected as much!

Question: if I wanted to be able to powerslide an mountain bike style ebike, at a reasonable speed, how much power would be required? would a 1500w rear hub with a 48v battery be enough to get the back wheel to brake traction on a loose surface or grass?

Probably not enough unless it’s wet grass! The rear wheel will spin up but not enough to be crazy, you’d need 3000 watts upwards on a hub motor I reckon.

I would like to build a EV, I started gathering parts for a conversation, then my house burned down, and had no insurance, so it has taken a long while to recoup, but a ebike would be nice also, do you know of a used 24" or 26" 1kw hub motor wheel?

Hi Andy. One day they are going to throw the book at you and that will be it. You break construction and use and traffic law in so many ways one day you will get caught. If you have an accident and someone makes an insurance claim you could well find you are uninsured. You may not be the person who gets hurt. It could be someone else. It’s quite irresponsible and selfish actions on your part. And you are encouraging others to think the same. Perhaps you need to grow up?
