Japanese Anemone is a flowering perennial that blooms in mid-September to early October. This variety, 'Honorine Joubert' is a reliable one for California and its flowers are incredibly tall. They are best planted with other plants that like slightly acidic soil like Camellias, Rhododendrons, Loropetalums. They can spread assertively but not as bad as other plants - it's easy to dig out the roots. Flowers can be used for floral arranging, though not long-lived in the vase. The best time to cut is in early morning when temps are cool, and best to cut when they're in bud form... they will open up in the vase.
