@Ying Fipling no he’s right, most often they’ll get out of college with 6 figure debt, (which over time just multiplied with interest) and then when you first start your salary is like 80k and you have to work your way up… but if you can pay off your debt you can make a lot of money

It really depends. I'm currently studying medicine right now. I would say 80% - 90% of my fees are paid through grants and scholarships. You also get paid during residency, other part time job also helps. Federal loan (FAFSA) interest is pretty low. Only 3.7% for undergrad and 5.3% for medical school. My debt can be paid off within a few years after graduating. But then again I know not everyone gets lucky with the scholarships and grants.

Anesthesiologists being extroverted is one hell of a lie. The ones I've worked with are generally quiet, nerdy, and kinda off by great people nonetheless

@Jswirv radiologists are definitely the kings of being nerdy. But the anesthesiologists I've worked with were nerdy and quiet. But when it came to calling things out during operation or pre surgery with the patient he was very skilled with communication.

Unrelated, but I had surgery twice with 2 different anaesthesiologists. First one was arrogant/cocky and thought he knew better when I was having side effects. Second one was defo more of an introvert/nerdy but such a nice caring guy and checked in with me throughout the procedure.

Extroverted personalities? It never ceases to amaze me how the internet has typified medical specialties to such an extent that they're like video game character options or DnD races. Are different specialties really so consistently segregated that Ortho surgeons are jocks, dermatologists and opthalmologists never work weekends, radiologists are basement vampires, neurologists are elitists etc?

Anesthesiologist here. And I get it when specialtists are viewed as such. The ortho hospital I used to work in has a weights room. Optha and Derma are rarely in the hospital at weekends. The radiologists I worked with, at least the boys, have their mancave/gamer nook at home and, in my experience at least, the neurosurgeons are those what you would consider the 'rich kids' when you were in school.

it's very depends on culture around where you live and where you take your residency, because years long of education could shaped how you behave as profesional. like in my country, dermatology residency is known as the most harsh residency with full of bullying and dramas. and this happen in almost every medical school in the nation so they considered the most hated residents by medical students. i bet this didn't happen in other countries

@mimigottfried8604
@mimigottfried8604 2 жыл бұрын
@@hashtagmate I would say that you are mostly correct, but aneathesiologists are usually also responsible for the ICU and cardiac or respiratory arrests that happen in the hospital, which means that whenever a patient is coding it is their job to rush over and start CPR and ALS. Emergency physicians deal only with people to whom something happened outside of the hospital however, and because they are the first specialists to deal with emergencies, ER doctors are in an environment with more chaos and disorder, I would say.

Anesthesiologists have to work at weird times but usually they work in groups . So they can rotate night shifts and cover for each other. And as for critical care, they have fixed shifts. They never get called outside a shift. Ever. All doctors work all the time in general. But critical care and Emergency Medicine don't get called outside their shifts.

YES. There’s so much implicit bias in medicine and it’s disgusting, kills, and desperately needs to be addressed. Sadly a lot of doctors are arrogant, narcissistic and don’t care to see the patient in front of them as a fellow human being and have an ounce of compassion. I have a rare disease and feel your pain about ER doctors. I’m so sorry. They really need to do better by the patient and not walk so high and mighty like they know everything in the world and can’t listen to a patient and truly hear them to be able to help appropriately.
