More than anything I think Ange wants to deflect negativity from his coaching staff. Which is respectable, but as a fan highly annoying when there doesn't seem to be any progress.

The carefully worded questions he didn’t answer were why he hasn’t done anything about the glaring mistake of leaving Vicario so exposed when it was identified months ago, all other problems pale into insignificance next to that, shows he is having difficulty keeping up with the PL pace.

Hard to see where the next point is coming from. Every time we give away a corner it’s like conceding a penalty. We’re painfully easy to play against. If we’d started like this and ended the way we started that would show progress (like poch’s first season) but this is very worrying and what’s more worrying is that we have a manager who just doesn’t get it.

I feel like the argument with Son coming deep to look for the ball is just due to the midfield not working. He has to search for the ball since others can’t provide. Just saw a stat that said Sonny has the most successful through balls in Europe 5 leagues. He has also has done the most in our squad.

I have a straightforward question for everyone here: why aren't we placing a man on the player standing in front of our goalkeeper? I don't have the exact game details, but take the Newcastle versus Everton match, for instance. We've conceded goals from corners or free kicks because of opponents positioned in front of our goalkeeper. Despite having a 15-day break before this game, we didn't even consider addressing this issue, not to mention that Arsenal excels at scoring from corner kicks. It's frustrating because every team seems to be targeting our goalkeeper, and we only make adjustments after goals have been scored. In the recent game, we started marking the player in front of Vicario only in the second half. Am I missing something here? If my amateur eyes can spot this, why aren't the coaches seeing it? I'm sure all of you have noticed this trend over the last few games. Don't get me wrong, I love this team, our style of play this year, and I have great respect for the coach. I thoroughly enjoy every game, but this one issue is really starting to bother me.
@orinorio12 ай бұрын
Concentration. During set pieces players are losing the player they are meant to be marking. Perrie panic and Kulu lost focus. Placing a defender on a the player that is Infront of the keeper then they will obstruct the keeper even more. If the keeper cant see the flight of the ball. Its each ways. Goals form set pieces comes form a player losing who they are meant to be marking. Kulu has shown he is prone to losing his marker.

Hi Alasdair, greeting from Melbourne. On the topic of Vicario, he is a great character, great shot stopper, excellent with his feet but he does not command his six yard box!! We need to see the "Venom" part of his game. He should have put two hands on Ben White and shoved him so hard. He has become too intimidated since the Man City incident in the FA cup. Even at the risk of getting booked he needs to intercept corners and smash into the cluster of players. I will miss the next two games also as they are at unearthly hours of the morning for us Oz fans.

Good day Sir Gold, yet again an analysis of a derby to make sense of and ease the jagged mind. Our team didn't do itself any justice with that performance. I was a bit disappointed with our starting eleven when I did join the match, because I was looking for Sarr, Richarlison and Lo Celso to start at the expense of Bissouma, Werner and Maddison. He’s coming across as someone who’s not seeing the problem and not trying to fix it. Of course that’s not the case, but his constant denials aren’t protecting anyone, it’s annoying the fanbase and it’s undermining the considerable amount of credibility he has built up. He should acknowledge the problem and say he’s going to do something about it.

We could well end up with the same points as last season or maybe 3 more than last season. Some people might say, we've done it without Kane, but even so, to only end with three more points than last season is disappointing to say the least. Son is a shadow of his former self. We are not playing to his strengths. Ange can't seem to figure out the best midfield set up. You'd think we'd have sorted out corners by now.. He talks about a project and keeping the faith. Frankly, I'm beginning to think that unless you're Pep and have a seemingly bottomless pit of money to spend, having an all out attack strategy will not work at Spurs. Remember, at Celtic, he had a big budget compared to all the other clubs, probably more than even Rangers. So, not surprising he did well there.

It was certainly very odd that Vicario got no protection from his teammates when defending corners. Ange seems the only one who cannot see that Spurs have a problem with set pieces. I agree that Madison was anonymous and seems to have lost confidence. His first move when he got thw ball always seemed to be away from the opposition goal I was also frustrated by Spurs inability to dribble past the wall of Arsenal defenders especially after Werner was injured. Far too many passes just seemed to go sideways. Hopefully, a better night against Chelsea.

White should have been pushed into the goal each time before any corner was taken and that commotion would have drawn ref's attention as you said. Also why is Son or Johnson in the box when defending corners? Why not leave one or both upfront with pace, this pressures opposition to think we must leave defenders out of our box because we now present them with a break away threat. Modern football teams don't do this why can't we try? Romero was immense 10/10. Terrible Sunday. Beating Chelsea is now a must. Great update AG.

I like a nge cos his honesty his answer in press conference is the 1st time he's gone against us it felt like he was talking to us like Ten Hag

Romero and Kulu were my joint member the match . I’m happy Deki reminded everyone what we were missing . I still think he should be an 8 or 10 long term

Did you notice how Partey used his hands against Romero when Romero headed against the post? Straight arms (with force) into Romeros throat. Why is this not a penalty?

Ange is stubborn and for that reason I can’t see him lasting . I give him to Xmas , which will be time wasted again.
More confident about the Liverpool game rather than the Chelsea game!

I agree with you in we need a player who can put a ball trough a needle because maddison is not doing it thats why i think donely would suit anje and us perfectly he is fantastic at treading balls trough the lines to set players up and also i think bearknshear should also be brought up to the squad what a player he is both donely and berknshear will only inhance us

After watching this video about defensive corner coaching and our switch from hybrid to zonal last season. We are playing a zonal system this season and it looks awful. It made me think Harry Kane made us look decent on defensive corners with all his near post headers he won. Now that hes gone every ball is getting in.

Hey 👋 Ali , hmmm 🤨 yes the sigh 😮💨! I thought overall we were alright and as always the meltdown or fall out is just so OTT. However I feel that Ange is gonna have to show some humility with set piece thing. We need a specialist set piece coach. I actually think that Ange may well get one this summer.

Thanks alasdair great vid ,very unusual game 0-3 at half time and we should have won or got at least a draw ,kullu pen ,Romero post ,harsh offside, vicario being fouled ,Michael Oliver had a mare again …

When making comparison to corner stats (only mean this out of curiosity!) - it would be interesting to see metrics like goals per corner as I imagine we’ve had more chances this season in our new system And as always… plus Harry Kane into the equation…

Hi Ali, hope your keeping well. After few days pass now I’m slowly coming to terms with my mood and beginning to feel better. I just wanted to say after hearing your podcast show? I agree with you. I also want to touch on the starting line up. I think Ange also started the wrong line up. I would have started with Son on the left, Brennan on the right and Rich, as the No 9. I also would have started with Sarr over Hojbjerg. Also I have a different question I like to ask and curious for opinions. What do you and others feel about Romero switching roles and can he play as a No 6?

I'd say, with almost certainty, he's shielding Mile just like he shields the players.

How significant do you think the loss Of H Kane has been to our defending of set pieces. He used to clear a lot of corners and free kicks from my memory!

Thanks for another therapy session. I think under Mourinho we were better at these dark arts, nowadays we are too nice sometimes. If someone annoys you in the box before the corner is taken just push the shit out of him. COYS

Thanks Alasdair. I get we are in a rebuild but some of our failings are very obvious. Hopefully can get them sorted for next season

The only way we fix leaking goals is to stop playing Ange ball. It worked at Celtic because the opposition week in week out was inferior. Does not work in premier league. I’m sure people will say “we are fighting for top four, so it must be working!”. Well we’d be higher up the table if Ange stopped playing with basically 2 at the back. So it ain’t working. This is like watching Ossie Ardiles Spurs, but without the entertainment. Ange will be gone after ten games next season coz he has no other way of playing. On a separate note, I don’t celebrate goals either anymore. Waiting for VAR to rule goals out has ruined football. Ridiculous to have to wait to celebrate. Football sucks right now.

I had Spurs finishing 3/2. Its still a wonder what would it be like if the Chelsea game had been different, Finishing 5th is still a good season. Many expected Spurs to struggle finish 8tth. Have to remember Spurs went through a whole month of playing make shift CB. Also feel the players have to be playing more then one game a week to get the flow going. Will be interesting who comes in the summer. Spurs aren't being outplayed. Its individual errors that is causing issues. Player switches of for a sec leads to goal.

I don’t care if the coach looking after set pieces is a specialist or not. I care that it appears that Jedinak is not up to the task.

Richardson is a derby player, will do the dirty work get under the opposition’s skin and cause chaos. I agree he helped change the game when coming on
