I love what angela brings to the competition. Shes a real class act. There were elements of this that felt a bit more like an Argentine tango than a rumba mainly as in rumba the feet are supposed to remain in contact with the floor much more than what we saw here. Still, overflowing with quality (and flexibility, blimey) 7

Score - *8/10* So much better than last week, I liked this dramatic and balletic approach to this Rumba. Surely Shirley meant fluidity instead of flexibility because one thing for sure is, Angela doesn't need any work on her flexibility, two splits, an arabesque and a lovely back bend, fabulous 😵 her line really hughlighted the elegance and control that is needed and it was absolutely there. It was a shame about the hip action and I would have liked to have seen a stronger Rumba walk but she coressed the floor beautifully and what a lovely finish. She absolutely rose like a phoenix here, Kai is doing so well with the routines and ideas too, I'm really enjoying this partnership

I can remember Angela Rippon becoming something of a sensation when she appeared on the Morecambe and Wise show and demonstrated her incredible dancing skills. In those days, people on TV were pigeonholed into their various roles and to have the Nine O' Clock News newsreader dancing on stage was a shock to the system to many and the general public weren't really used to people crossing over into other roles. Especially a serious newsreader dancing. It was akin to the notion of the Archbishop of Canterbury telling a dirty joke live on television. In many ways, Angela Rippon broke that glass ceiling along with being one of the very first female regular newsreaders. With that in mind, it doesn't surprise me to see the 79 year old Angela Rippon continuing to demonstrate that anything is possible. A wonderful performance by her.
