In the early 90's I'd fly to Vegas anytime Liza was playing at the Desert Inn. Such fantastic shows. Always the epitome of a great performer. Your performance was spot on. Gave me chills. Much love and continued success in all you do.

I ADORE this number and the performance! It's a great number , not better than Stephanies performance or She loves to hear the music, but different! Both terrific performances though I think Angela nailed her voice and mannerisms more imo. She's electric to watch and I love the Fosse-esque choreo too. It's all very Liza with a Z which I guess is the point of it. Thank you for sharing, I wish i could see the whole show of this iteration of the musical. I hoped we'd get it in London at some point, i think John Barrowman or John Partridge would've been great in the lead role 20 years ago. or if they were going to do it now, it'd be a fab vehical for young Charlie Stemp! Are you listening Cameron Mackintosh?!! lol

As a huge fan of Liza since I watched her win her academy award for Cabaret I must say Angela nailed it. I'm truly impressed.

Just incredible. This song is a much betrer vehicle for the Liza role than She Loves to Hear the Music. Much as I love Stephanie Block. The dancers knock it out of the park too!

Wow. Is this show running now on Broadway? Hugh Jackman? Angela is pretty accurate. Liza is unique, but Angela is a hell of a singer. Liza's movement and body expression is another story. I'd love to see this show. Wish they came to the West End in London!

A bit of trivia... Liza and I attended the same private school in LA. She and I were buddies. She told me back then that she would be famous one day. I said no way... years later we met on the set of Lucky Lady. I pulled out my brownie photos and said do you remember me...Over the years I saw her in concerts. I was impressed at how dedicated and how she gave hundred percent. Unfortunately we lost contact over the years.

Very good but Judy died in 1969 was Liza doing shows like that then? And she was a lot younger then - but very talented performance

Apparently a very condensed version of their lives. Garland died several years before Liza's big breaks in film - Cabaret was 1972 - Liza With a Z , same year. It's a great performance but not based in real time as far as the book and her marriage to Peter.

This song if from the musical The Boy From Oz and covers many years of Liza's career. Starting with performing with her mother and then ending with the Bob Fosse choreography, pointing to her CABARET performance. The show was about Peter Allen and so Liza's story is very condensed.

This is the first time I have ever written a comment. In contrast to the other people, I think this was a big miss in terms of interpreting Liza Minelli's talen and stage presence. What is missing is her charisma (OK, difficult to replicate) but also her sweetness on stage-- which was a big part of her charm.

Lots of people run into this problem when they try to duplicate a legendary talent. She had the moves but not the move past the move, which is what Liza was known for. She had her vocal tics, but in all the wrong places. And yes, she lacked an essential sweetness and humanity that also is Liza’s trademark. I don’t hold it against her. I’m sure she’s a wonderful performer. But there’s only one Liza Minnelli.

In the original production, in Australia. She was brilliant, as was the entire cast, led by Todd McKenney as Peter Allen. Hugh Jackman took over as Allen for the substantially rewritten Broadway production. This video is from the Australian revival, post-Broadway, showcasing Jackman’s performance, supported by most of the original cast. It toured the country in stadiums and arenas, which is why you can see the big projection screen in the background of some of the shots.

I was just going to pose the question of how Hugh came to do the show in Australia as I knew a different actor had portrayed Peter in the original Australian show. Thanks for enlightening me. :-) Also was it a straight up revival of the Australian version of the show or did it contain some of the Broadway elements? @@prahslra
