Plot Twist: the Quant is actually an undercover exit opps-er that practices LBOs all day and just alt+tabs to the Fama French three factor model whenever people come over to ask for excel tips.

@@angelasunx3 perfect example, today I was creating the Anova multiple regression table in Excel... Except, instead of hardcoded values that the Data Analysis add-in spits out, I've replaced everything with dynamic array functions. I've gone so far as to set the underlying matrix calculations to handle dynamic ranges. I'm using indirect cell references where the part of the cell range is measured via a substitute(address( formula with count and counta functions to identify where a dynamic data set ends. I also set it up so any independent variable column located in the original raw data can be dragged outside a range or shifted with another column. Should be pretty handy when optimizing autocorrelation.

Just one question. Have you ever seen a kiss up going up the ladder. The way I think is they might run out of gas eventually and when stakes are high like to senior bankers when your work has more say then your talks. I am not from IB but I am into treasury and operations but I do talk a lot to traders I deal with and also doing CFA and FRM to get into core IB. Just want to know how things look for the kiss up down the road. One of my previous colleague got into a new small co with decent package. Just because he had a good relationship with my previous manager, the manager helped him getting that position. I hated that and it took me like 2-3 weeks to get over it. Maybe i am a bit jealous 🙄. Kuddos to your videos. You are uploading out of the box contents and I am loving it❤️
@angelasunx3
@angelasunx3 3 жыл бұрын
Haha thanks so much! Glad you're enjoying it. I think kiss-ups can go far sometimes but it really depends on the people above them. At some point people start to realize that your work just isn't great even if you're good at forming relationships with people.

Im coming into a bulge bracket bank as an experienced hire... I am really curious about the facetimer. Does that actually work? This will be my first move into finance but in every role I've had before if just one person is staying to work super late that's usually a sign that they are inefficient or that whoever is managing them/their work is doing something wrong. It's never looked upon kindly as it signals someone's incompetence. Would be a hugee thing of importance to note if this type of tactic actually works in the banking environment/culture.
@angelasunx3

@angelasunx3
@angelasunx3 3 жыл бұрын
I'd say it's more like you would expect to work 9am-10pm (likely later). I don't think I've personally had a 9-5pm day aside from perhaps the week of Christmas to be honest with you. It's worthwhile due to a lot of other reasons in terms of career progression, but you should go into IB with the expectation of working long hours.
