I love this painting and appreciate you explaining things as you go along. What often perplexes me in landscapes as this is that it seems tough to prevent what can seem like two focal points - the cactus on the left and the mountain. The landscape almost has a path leading to the moutain, so my eye is drawn to both that and the cactus simultaneously. I have done paintings similar and often wonder about that. Any helpful insights appreciated. Thanks very much for your helpful tips and demonstrations.

Debbie Glass -Yes, I totally agree! I live in Southern Az and this was very helpful. I would love to see a painting of a desert scene during the monsoon season with the intensely colored skies.

I absolutely love the process that you are going through ( and taking me along!) Very busy with amazing granddaughter right at this moment but ohhh so longing for my paintbrushes. thanks for the email directing me to this wonderful video. Had a wonderful time painting along but I didn't finish but have been going back to the video an will soon be finished. As I've only recently found/discovered your channel, I'm a bit late. However, I've been doing plein air painting as much as I can this summer. I have lots of flowers in my beds, and also I live on a (re-planted) prairie, and the flowers are amazing! I'm still working on my style, and control and such. So enjoy your videos, and especially this one which had me chuckling at one point.

Thank you for sharing ! This one was a little (or big) eye opener for me , the wonderful depth you got when you kind of painted the shadows on the ground first and then painted the bushes and shrubbery on top. I have to try that... I also watched your brush technique, how you painted just with a very light touch of the top of the brush ,think that I goes in too heavily sometimes.... now I have to go out to take my own reference photo, because there are not so many cactuses around here where I live in Sweden😅 🙃again a big thank you for this!!

I’m a beginning watercolorist and while I love your painting and your colors, I am a little confused: as the title of your video says “one-layer” painting... but it is obviously many many layers...? 🤔 Thank you
