This performance, for many reasons, was very special to Angelina. Yes, she could have wowed us with power and belting, but she chose to handle it with care and tenderness. We can hear and feel the sadness and longing in her voice, crying out for the release of Narges and for her return to her family. The Nobel committee made the right choice in choosing Angelina for this occasion.

Kork is magnificent and Angelina as well of course. In the combination it's just magic. It's one of the few songs where Angelina reaches both her lower register and higher register. She must be fearless to do so: it's quite easy to falter.❤

Brought me to tears. She sings with such emotion. I'm almost 70 and remember quite easily the 1965 Righteous Brothers version, which was brought to a new generation via the film Ghost. I already love Angelina and she did them proud.

Frank, thanks for your reaction. This performance is ALL about the emotion Angelina conveys for Narges Mohammadi. Angelina, being 100% respectful, didn't want to be seen as showing off at all, instead she used all her talents to draw attention to the plight of Narges and women's rights in Iran. The world should join a chorus to FREE Narges Mohammadi NOW.

^^^Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 (the charity work of Angelina Jordan is only one of the many things that makes her so special.) Angelina Jordan's historical journey is captivating, as she showcases her talent at the age of17 with a voice that transcends time and space, Angelina Jordan mesmerized the world with her rendition of "Unchained Melody" at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in 2023. Accompanied by the KORK orchestra, the 17-year-old singer paid tribute to Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award, and remains in Iran. Angelina Jordan's performance was a testament to her artistic maturity and versatility, as well as a promise of more musical wonders to come. © Larry D. Pifer

^^^^^Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 This video is a masterpiece that I have watched more than 75 times. Every time I hear the KORK Orchestra begin playing, I feel a surge of emotion because I know what is coming next: the most amazing rendition of Unchained Melody by the incomparable Angelina Jordan. She has a voice of an angel and a talent beyond words. Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 Some ask why Angelina Jordan would pick Unchained Melody for this event, Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award remains in Iran. One of the most popular and enduring love songs of all time, Unchained Melody, has a surprising origin. It was composed for a 1955 film called Unchained, which tells the story of a man who is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. He yearns to be free and reunite with his wife and children, who are waiting for him outside. The song captures his emotions of loneliness, hope and longing, and has been covered by many artists over the years, but none in my lifetime of 76 years have conveyed such emotion as Angelina Jordan did at this performance. © Larry D. Frank, nice to see you again!!!! The Bobby Hatfield version turned this into a romantic love song but it was intended to be a song of love, a love separated and very sad. Angelina sang this directly to the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize Award, an imprisoned woman in Iran, and her family (twins and her husband) now living in France. She spent years in jail for standing up for women's rights and the oppression of women in general. She could have been released if she would agree not to continue her support for women but she discussed it with her family and she said she could never do that and, so, her stay in prison continues. The way Angelina sang the song, the way she was dressed and the song she chose to sing, the hope is the Iranian authorities will release her and if they make concessions, Narges Mohammadi will see that as a positive compromise. We shall see. (I hope they listened to Angelina sing the song.)

Bentornato maledetto Frank! Grazie per la bella reazione, ma hai fatto passare veramente troppo tempo senza ascoltare questa magica ragazza.🤣 Her ability to move those who listen to her is absolutely incredible. What a fascinating and intimate interpretation of this mythical song, absolutely suitable for the occasion of the tribute to Narges Mohammadi! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way, this wonderful version of a fantastic song and so appropriate to the occasion, 7 years after the last time, in the same studios and with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps into her musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and "unchained", a singer who has already sung on 2 different occasions at the Nobel Prizes and at just 17 years old.💛🧡❤

@LonghopeBro-ju6 3 weeks ago For anyone that is unaware of the context and importance of this performance at this event. There are three things that make it particularly significant: She is Norwegian and Norway is the home of the Nobel Peace Prize; her grandmother is Iranian; and Unchained Melody was written about a prisoner longing to be reunited with a loved one. The honoree, Narges Mohammadi is in prison for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran. What is truly disturbing is that she was sentenced to a total of 31 years and 154 lashes. It must be especially heart wrenching for Angelina, given her Iranian heritage and her empathy for the disadvantaged and downtrodden. It is even harder on her two children, who are the same age as Angelina and received the award on behalf of their mother.

The artist's volume was turned much too low. Can you adjust this?! I am disappointed when the reactors have little or no knowledge as to the backdrop behind an artist's song choice & performance style..and here, one's knowing this would supply the 'I get it' moment. This was not a tv variety show, for the artist to grandstand and preen on stage. This is the Nobel Peace Prize event, with the spotlight focused squarely on the imprisoned woman (& her daughters, able to be present to 'stand up' for their absent mother),so the song chosen was so appropriate, if one knows what the real story is behind the words of this song.. The sensitivity, the thoughtful elegance we witness in Angelina's breathtaking performance is perfect for this night as the song's every word & note emphasizes the enforced separation of a mother from her family, and the beaten & imprisoned mother so far away.

In this song....slow pace....but without the power of the meaning of this song. One of my favorites of all times. Watch Elvis Presley sing it....and come back to me. I am not speaking of the Righteous Brothers......of course they smashed the world.

@@FrankValchiria Have you ever noticed how many reacters who make an effort to try to say an artist's seemingly difficult to pronounce name, always apologize before their attempt? They're savvy of the fact that some cultures and/or some people are sensitive (perhaps overly so, but who are we to judge?) to the mis-pronunciation of their name. Being this astute obviously signifies intelligence, but it is also unmistakable evidence of class. Oh, you may have intelligence and perhaps you have class, too bad they're so low.
