Admission time. As I said in the description, this video is sourced from rehearsal images and sound from a BBC Radio broadcast of the concert which took place on the next day. It took about 25 resync edits to keep them in line. If you want to hear the even better quality audio from the source, then there's a link in the description.

Loved the description. I would really like to see her either tour with a big band or, sing with the symphony orchestras around the country. Our local symphony adds to their regular sections Jazz players and has many different types of musicians perform like Doc Severinsen, Kenny G etc. Harry Connick travels with his own big band as does Michael Buble and they put on fabulous shows. This type of music (Standards) is her wheelhouse. If she becomes a “Pop” singer, she may make more money, but won’t stand out from the crowd as she won’t be as unique. Don’t misunderstand me, she is fabulous no matter what she sings, there are many “Pop” singers; not a lot of female crooners.

I look for reactors that I can learn from. They are the only ones I subscribe to. I don't need somebody to tell me how great it sounded and how wonderful the harmonies were. Even without a musical background I can figure that out for myself. So, yes, please, continue to educate us. That's why I'm subscribed.

The stars and planets aligned when Angelina Jordan was born. The journey of an artist can indeed be profoundly affected by their socioeconomic background. Angelina Jordan's financial stability has arguably given her the freedom to explore and express her creativity without the immediate pressure of financial survival. The most profound individual in AJ’s life, according to her, is her grandmother, Mery Zamani, artist/poet extraordinaire who’s knowledge, wealth and genius have tutored AJ, and cultivated her unbelievable talent. This is a luxury not afforded to all artists, and the music industry is replete with stories of immensely talented individuals who have faced immense pressure to succeed financially. This pressure can sometimes lead to a tragic struggle with substance abuse, as seen in the cases of Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse. Their legacies serve as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of the immense pressures of fame and success in the music industry. It's a complex tapestry where talent, personal circumstances, and external pressures interweave to shape an artist's career and personal life. (CopyRight)

But I’m here primarily to hear about what I’m loving about her performance; so, even if you have to listen through it a second time, could you please also keep commenting on her vocal choices, and techniques and abilities? Let's see if I understand this. Angelina is wonderful with a big band like this. She's fantastic with a full orchestra like in "Unchained Melody" and "Summertime." The is a fantastic intimacy in those recording at home with Egil and Ivan. Her acapella performances are beautiful. I think it would be safe to say that she is fantastic, regardless of the accompaniment.

I love your production notes and explanations, Boudy. Keep 'em coming! The word that leaps to mind while listening to this Angelina vocal is authentic. How many singers today can swing like this with a big band and sound like they were born to do it? Angelina also understands that a sweet tone and good enunciation is part of this style and does she deliver! I adore your scenario of Angelina touring with a big band in a musical revue. I think it would generate the kind of fandom The Grateful Dead used to draw, with people following the shows across the country and maybe even across the world. We can dream.

Thanks Boudy, not to much information, I loved it and learned some new things about the massive process of creating such beautiful sounds. Angelina was 12 here, invited by Quincy to preform at his 85th birthday gala in London. She is a total professional even at her earliest ages of performing. Just for your personal look, here is a video of her singing just for Quincy BTS with just her phone as backing track, it is a private audience with Quincy: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eNN-pdKJxNaWkmw.html. She has touched so many famous artists, and they all know who she is. She just hooked up with Toby Gab, quite famous songwriter, musician and they are writing a new song together and she is collaborating with him for a re-strung version of his many songs and performing live with him, I believe in London as well...this is new!! Cheers, stay well. Here is a video of that announcement:kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gJegYLGJ0-C5mWw.html... your a busy guy so maybe have a peek when you can. This young Lady is a magnet for great talent...they all know her.

0nly 12 years old and and already a seasoned professional in rehearsal with Frank Sinatra's and now Quincy Jones orchestra. I can't imagine how anyone at this age can be so relaxed. So in tune with themselves and actually so fearless and just deliver an easy free-flowing Fly Me to the Moon rehearsal song. This was wonderful. It's an absolute gem and it absolutely gives us an understanding of why she is born to sing and be on stage. I want to thank you for your absolutely informative breakdown of the mixing techniques needed to put through a recording and also into a live performance. It's so important to understand this because there is so much behind the scenes that is going on that we don't get to see. Jules Buckley was the the conductor here, and he started these tributes to Quincy Jones in 2016, as can be read on his website: >>The program’s initial concept premiered in 2016 at the BBC Proms in London, where Jules Buckley led the “flawless” Metropole Orkest in a stunning tribute to his idol. This collaboration continues to this day with subsequent concerts performed in Stuttgart, Paris, Montreux and Seattle, including Quincy’s 85th birthday at London’s O2 in 2018, which saw the legend himself perform his hits to brand new arrangements.

Boudy, I share your pain brother; it too shall pass. I'm so glad that you have fallen prey to one of my favorite AJ sound tracks. FYI Quincy wrote this arrangement for Frank Sinatra and the Count Basie Orchestra and personally asked AJ in (2018) to open his 85th Birthday Gala at London's O2 Arena with this song. Since I first heard this several years ago, I have searched for the female vocalist's name that AJ reminds me of. The vocal tone is so familiar, but I was a teenager when I first heard her in the 1950s.

Thanks..Hmmm "What a Difference a Day Makes" was formative in my appreciation of female vocalists, and Angelina's 8 year old cover of "What a Difference a Day Makes" (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jq6enrmW3drTgas.htmlsi=324opy8OAr1_ZaBo) was my greatest personal connection to Angelina voice when I started listening to her. 😊@@leechap3

The gig was 85 Quincy Jones anniversary The sound was paste, on the image is the rehersal .... there is the original version with a very poor sound (from phone or small camera) Same for the studio version of I'm a fool to want you : you can see and ear the original version filmed by granma Mery and a fan paste the recorded soundtrack on mery's images ...

I’ve said this before, but my extra dopamine hit is when she’s younger like this. I’m not saying Boudy feels the same, but I know she has a song that is coming that I’ll feel it again, and while yes, the recent songs are good, but not that “extra” that I felt before like this performance. Thx Boudy.

Boudy. Osovarga in the comments mentions in the comments that there is more behind the seen vidio of this rehearsal. There is at least 2 more videos of this rehearsal, where it shows Angelina walks up to the conductor straight after she finishes singing with a music sheet and points out something wrong on the sheet. He then crosses something out and fixes it I think with a pencil. He also looks at a few other sheets. Just think how many music sheets will have to be reprinted. It must have Ben Merys chanel I saw this on. Angelina was only 12 years old. just after her It's Magic Album with the Norwegian millitery staff orchestra.

Angelina sang only a couple times with orchestras. Here's a list of six occasions, though for Black To Black and Faded, it were not full orchestras: kzfaq.info/sun/PLddfS789jBConxCCf6ora48EShVMAujd8

Here is the footage of Angelina performing this in O2 Arena (12) - the video is poor quality - but the audio is from the mixing board: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q6ykeaukl6rLZXk.html - unfortunately no professional video has been released on this.
