👣Angelina likely based her performance on the version Sara Bareilles performed about 5 years before Angelina created this shortened version. Angelina also performed this version of hers, a few times during her mini consert-tour in Norway in 2022. We also know Sir Elton John appriciated Saras B`s version a lot. This competition was AGT The Champions which is a competition between champions and finalists from Got Talent shows from around the world. Apparently AGT had wanted her to appear on the show for several years because of her Norway’s Got Talent win. As you mentioned her family turned them down several times. Her manager/uncle finally negotiated an agreement that released her from any obligations to sign with Simon. If you notice on her Bohemian Rhapsody performance Simon seems stunned when she says how old she was when she won Norways Got Talent. That’s a bit of acting on his part. He knew very well who she was and was probably hoping he could change her mind about signing with him. Another controversy is that the voting wasn’t the same as the regular shows. This show had “super fans” from each state that did the voting. Nobody really knows who the super fans are, how they become one and how many there are.

Great reaction and comments guys....and yes...she won that competition solely based on the reactions of the audience....they loved her. If you do not sign a contract with Simon you are doomed from the start...the "super fans" they referred to are simply Simon, they do not exist. No one really cares anyway, she won over the American audience.

Dad, some gentle advice: don’t try to pick your favorite Angelina song because there’s a good chance it will be the one you heard most recently. I think most angels have a group of a couple dozen songs that fall into the favorites group. The problem is that Angelina sings so many different genres at any age that comparing Bohemian Rhapsody to I Put a Spell on You is nearly impossible. I’ll only quibble with one thing you said-that Angelina is a generational voice. I’ve been listening to music since the 1950’s. Angelina is absolutely once in a lifetime. Angelina has done a lot of Adele covers. If you want to hear what Angelina has in her vocal toolkit, watch her amazing cover of Easy on Me. Simon wanted to sign AJ right after NGT. The family turned ALL down offers from labels all over the world. At 13, the family and A J were ready for more exposure into America, and negotiated with Simon to get her on this new competition. Had she agreed to sign with Simon, she would have won easily. After GYBR, she had 54% of all votes. Thats insanely high. However, they could not agree to what Simons label wanted and she actually finished in 7th place. She signed with Republic 18 months later, as RR gave the family everything they wanted.....full control. RR added a mentor and also has built a studio just for her.

There are other sides to the story about what happened and why Angelina didn't win. I think the fact is none of us know exactly what happened. But firstly, keep in mind that this was not a singing competition. It was a talent competition and there were magicians and dancers and acrobats etc. Different types of talents came in ahead of her in the competition, and it was not based on judges votes. It was based on audience votes. People may prefer a magician or a dancer over a particular singer. There is no question Angelina was the best singer in the competition, but it's hard to compare against other talents based on audience preference. The audience cannot decide a winner based on somebody signing up with Simon.
