I am sure Whitney would be proud of this one. You are right that you are just getting started in this jordan journey (as you called it). When I think that you have now only heard this and 'put a spell'... still just scratching the surface. I have what might seem like a weird answer to the "can she get better?" question. You don't even have to look to the future to watch her get better. Each new performance you see from her will make her better. Like when you watch "cry me a river" at 11, or "Every time we say goodbye" at 10, or "Gloomy Sunday" at 7, "wicked game" at 12....what ever it is... each new song you hear (past or present) is going show you a new layer, and you will realize that she is even better than you thought before. ...every time, every song, any age.

Whitney was 29 years old when she recorded the original of this in a major recording studio, with all the bells and whistles of modern recording technology, and probably done in several takes. Angelina was 13, in a small recording studio or a room in her home, with only her, the microphone and the backing track…..and done in one take. Astounding!

The first time you asked "Can she get any better than this"? I nearly spit coffee on my laptop, trying not to laugh. This video was (depending on who you're asking) when she was 12, almost 13, or she had just turned 13. Either way, she is now 15, and the answer is yes, she is continually improving. Her latest song that she wrote is "Million Miles", and it is a masterpiece. A year ago, she debuted on America's Got Talent: The Champions 2, and led off her her own rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody, that earned her praise from all the judges, and a Golden Buzzer from Heidi Klum. Do a search for it, and take note, that in a year, it has been viewed over 27 MILLION times. Shortly after her appearances on AGT, a song was released by a Norwegian EDM duo, called TRXD that they wrote for Angelina to sing. This isn't her normal style, but it shows there is no genre she can't sing, and sing well. Newfie many thanks for your reaction and I agree with you Angelina, around her 13th birthday, did justice to the great Whitney Houston. It may surprise you, that many AJ angels have this performance well down their list of favorites. For me, it is not about hitting very high or very low notes but how a vocalist conveys the story the song was written to tell. I just found a comment written by Jack Brown a year ago. What I enjoy most about Angelina's singing is that unlike a lot of singers who approach a song with an attitude of "I'm going to use this song to showcase my vocal talents", she uses her vocal talents to showcase a song's lyrics and melody. You can tell she feels a special relationship with each song she sings, and when she sings, she conveys perfectly to the audience what the song means to her. That's what they call a "stylist" and they're rare, in any era. Well said Jack Brown!!!

She apparently did this to show she can belt out those high notes. So many of her covers are in a lower register with her jazzy, breathy, singing voice. Lots of vocal fry, vibratto, and marvelous runs and rifts. She was actually 12 or just turned 13 when she recorded this song. Another song where she hits some great high notes is a cover of "Feeling Good" when she was 10. I won't bother to suggest other covers because others will do that, but check out her own original song about the loss of a loved one called "Million Miles". She wrote it herself and recorded it in late 2020. It was about the loss of her grandfather. There is a lyric video and a live studio version. They are both wonderful but you can really see the emotion in the studio version.

She is crazy good with 130+ performances to react to..from age 6 to now 15yo (think of that, it is like 8 or 9 albums of work). She had just turned 13yo here (recall Whitney was I think 29yo when she sang IHN). AJ is grounded, and has a really supportive family helping to guide her (except music-wise, that is all Angelina). You are not nearly finished being astounded by her and will encounter sweaty eyeballs from time to time (that is the price of admission but no one really minds). Her Norway's Got Talent performances (7 & 8yo) are staggering. She has been doing her music while growing up. She wanted to wait to sign with somebody until she was ready. It's hard to take over the music world when you have homework!

Welcome to Angelina's world!!! People mainly turn to the "belters", the singers who continuously sing in their highest vocal range. That's not what Angelina does. Although she has an outstanding vocal range (her low register is like melting chocolate), she paces her songs with lows, middle and high notes which gives them a different dynamic and emotion from anybody else out there. As heard in this particular video, she doesn't have any problem hitting those high notes. That goes for the "non-believers" 😉 The fact that she doesn't do this often is a musical choice for the reasons I stated before. Can she get any better? Well, this was 2 years ago and if you check her concert late in 2019 in Norway when she was almost 14, you'll understand. She was 13, two years ago when she recorded this. To me, it’s past the point where I am able to say if she is “improving“. But she is *adding* to her repertoire of skills and styles. Maybe that’s the same thing, I don’t know. But if you listen to her AGT Champs performance of Bohemian Rhapsody or her new single “Million Miles“ or even another basement cover like “Young and Beautiful“, you’ll hopefully see what I mean.

Thank you for your second wonderful reaction to Angelina. When I see this little girl challenge herself, with her usual confidence, with a song sung by a superlative singer like Whitney, she steals my soul. She chose the version of the song that accompanies the movie "The Bodyguard", which is softer than the version that Whitney sang in the shows, but still not an easy test even for an adult singer. This laid-back 13-year-old girl with a simple backing track and just her mic, with no autotune or filter, gets something extraordinarily beautiful and well done. She has done a surprising number of live concerts and other appearances (i.e., on TV) for someone whose family has been "pumping the breaks" on her career since the very beginning of it (her audition on _Norway's Got Talent_ singing "Gloomy Sunday" when she was 7 went viral online and led to worldwide media coverage of her before she even sang in the semifinals). There are many, many great power singers out there. There are few that can go from power to soft and maintain such control. She conveys emotion better than most, as well. A great one to listen to is her cover of Adell's "A Million Years Ago".

She was just (!) 13 at the time of recording! Being Dutch myself I should be proud of Glennis Grace, who started out her (Dutch and later international) career with imitating Whitney strong and almost perfect! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z5yce9ulutPDj5c.html ! But, to be honost, I am more impressed by Angelina, not only because of her young age, but she sings it in the original key G major. Whitney (and Glennis) sang it a whole tone lower later, when she was a couple of years older, and also AJ sings it more truthful in the emotion, which is strange, because she can't have experienced those kind of emotions so deeply. Angelina has a way of relating to lyrics that only the greatest can! It is amazing what Angelina does here, since it is out of her comfort zone! Her tessitura/reach is lower than Whitneys!
