Thanks for your reaction ... She's NINE years old in this. She rewrote the music for her own version after watching Screamin Jay Hawkins doing his own video back in 1960 something ( don't really know date) and she loved him and decided to do her own version. (Screamin Jay's version can still be seen in KZfaq. ) Angelina has always picked her own music and rewrite the music of any song cover she did. (I believe she passed 200 videos on KZfaq recently. ) Angelina .. literally as she turned two years old, was already loving jazz.. a lot .. she wanted it on all day long ...and her Grandma set her up on You Tube and taught her how to get Bille Holiday .. her favorite .. and all the Jazz greats. She right away started being there with You Tube for literal hours .. (remember she was a child prodigy) and she would play a small part of a song and play it over and over and over and then try to sing it herself .. figuring out how Billie, for example, made those sou 10:39nds she loved so much .. she would do it and do it and do it until she figured out how her throat had to be .. and breath.. and every little thing. So in a sense, she was teaching herself how to sing jazz the way she loved it and she was teaching herself from the inside out!! That is how Angelina learned to sing! (Do remember that as angels we hear pieces of stories here and there .. some of how i put the above together Angelina spoke about in an interview) Anyway .. just a little touch of Angelina and her very early devotion to music from the age of two!!

🎉🎉 To help us help you in this, dare I say, life changing journey down the rabbit hole, could you start a play list so we can track the songs you've reacted to? Many of Angelina's dubbed "Angels," which you now number amongst, will glom on to your channel wanting an easy way to hear each of your AJ reactions.🎉🎉 In addition to her parents, Angelina's number 1 fan, and number 1 mentor, is Grandma Mery Zamani. Mery, herself, a child prodigy in art and poetry, is always at Angelina's side. Apart from taking an amazing wealth of home videos, Mery has also directed and/or produced several of Angelina's music videos. Mery was the one to create many of her ensembles, including the colorful attire Angelina performed "Bohemian Rhapsody" for her AGT-Champions audition in 2020.

Thank you for featuring Angelina a second time, I hope you will do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on KZfaq, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. This is Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below, (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted. (g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song. (h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time. (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. (l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella! Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

Didn't take that long Daniel 😅 She's just that good that makes any person want to listen to more and to top that off, she is a very humble and caring person. She should be an example to all artists out there. And she should be the most popular person on the planet (but obviously for her own safety and protection from exposure when so young) that's why till now she is not worldly renowned. Which is a clever choice by her family. But at her current state, she'll soon lift off, I'd say by the end of this year she'll be heavily promoted and shared throughout the world. Loving your reactions 😅 same reactions I had some years ago. Keep on going 🙏🏻👍🏻

Great reaction and insight! Norwegian born Angelina Jordan began singing at the age of one and a half, and by age three was listening to jazz and classics legends on repeat. Her grandmother was her greatest influence, but Angelina chose her own path. Her first studio performance was at age 7, singing I Who Have Nothing. She won Norway's Got Talent at the age of only 8, singing old time classics from Billie Holliday and George Gershwin, and became the youngest ever vocalist to win an international Got Talent Show! Her performance at 9 years old of Screamin Jay Hawkins, I Put a Spell on You is considered one of the finest recordings ever of a 9-year-old vocalist! Angelina also went viral on America's Got Talent the champions in 2020 with her unique versions of Bohemian Rhapsody and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Angelina sings in English which unbelievably is her third language! She is a true prodigy. She is now 17, and has recorded a huge library of songs, including covers and several originals. A major attraction to Angelina's music is the emotion and attitude she conveys, although she has not experienced the life events! She is known as the barefoot princess of 1,000 voices as she can adjust her tone, style, and register for any song or genre. She was signed by Republic Records when she was 14. She was not been widely promoted for a few years, as her family wanted to allow her a normal childhood. However, things are changing rapidly as she has now graduated school. She has recently released two original singles from Republic Records, Love Don't Let Me Go, and Now I'm the Fool, coinciding with her new seven song EP called Old Enough. A world tour is in the works, likely for the fall, accompanying her full album release. Here is a chronological playlist from ages 6 to 17, of Angelina's nearly 200 videos including tiktok and Instagram. The first dozen or so are her originals and a few specialty songs. Then it starts chronologically at age 6. kzfaq.info/sun/PL2v8kgVeo4EbQD6l_WAVjOfItquzW7oEc Why does Angelina sing barefoot? The answer may bring a tear to your eye. It is related to a promise she made to herself and to the world when she was only 6 years old. She was traveling in the Middle East with her mom and grandmother and they came across a young orphan girl with no shoes and scarred feet. Angelina gave the girl her own favorite shoes. Angelina ask the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and she said a doctor, but she could not because she had to take care of her siblings. She asked Angelina the same question and Angelina said I want to sing for the world. The young girl said she would pray for Angelina. Since then, Angelia has forever performed barefoot as a reminder of all those less fortunate. At age 9 she wrote a book about this experience, Between two Hearts, becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. She also has helped raise millions for children's charities. She even donated her winnings from Norway's Got Talent to charities. She is a special individual, and one you cannot follow without developing an emotional bond. Angelina captures hearts because she is humble and has compassion for humanity. Her stated goal from childhood was to sing for the world and spread love and peace. I trust this will cause you to embrace her as millions of others have, and that you will continue down the rabbit hole from which you will not want to escape. Peace and love. Please remember to include in your description the artist Official Channel as well as the original video, if you have not already done so. Verbally encouraging your viewers to like comment and subscribe to yours and the artists' videos and channels boosts subscriptions and algorithms for both of you. 6:47

Another spell was cast by 9yo Angelina. Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

It is truly a conundrum when we try to rationalize how it is possible that this tiny sweet-faced 9yo Norwegian girl can step up to a microphone, flip some switch within her, become this "beast-mode" version of herself (most probably named "AJ don't play"), deliver an extraordinary and musically and socially sophisticated performance, then just-like-that return to the pensive young lady once again... There aren't words for this! And Angelina is on video singing Whitney Houston at 1 1/2 yo (she has been her own engine for this pursuit)! "I Put a Spell On You" has been covered many times and is recognized as a classic, yet almost never is the tone of the original 1956 "Screamin" Jay Hawkins version captured. This is because Hawkins was the original shock rock guy (think Ozzy Osbourne type craziness) and his style is difficult to emulate and also because his dated delivery is uncomfortable and stereotypical to our modern sensibilities. Yet Angelina respectfully sings his own song in a manner that exceeds his (Hawkin's image is on the candle she holds at the start of her video). You must go and listen to Hawkins' original (and throw in a couple of "famous" covers as well) to see the true genius in how AJ incorporates many of his vocal elements [usually omitted by most singers]. This shows another aspect of her musical IQ and arranging genius (not to mention her masterful control of her vocal instrument equaled by few others regardless of age). When you said that, if you could do so, you would go through ALL of Angelina's stuff in a week, I had to chuckle to myself. There are only 178 hours in a week. If you reacted to one song per hour, nonstop, 24 hours a day, for 7 days, you still would not have completed Angelina's complete repertoire from age 6 to presently age 17! LOL! Seriously, counting covers (many of them multiple times in various venues) plus all her originals thus far, she has something over 200!! That's in a 10 or 11 year span. Compare that to Elvis, age 19 to 42 (a 23-year span) in which he did a little over 700 songs (according to a Sirius XM Elvis Radio, channel 75, radio host from Graceland). Angelina is on an astronomical journey to far surpass even ELVIS' numbers by the time she is 42, God willing! To quote her from her "Diamond" song, she is a SUPERNOVA!

We Angelina angels never tire of watching reactions to this remarkable performance. Angelina created a great arrangement and took control of the studio and musicians to deliver a sassy, powerful performance. *Why Angelina always performs barefoot* At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. PLEASE PURCHASE Angelina’s book from her merchandise store on her official website, angelinajordanofficial

She has no boundaries: Gender, age, color, language, religion, occupation, wealth, musical preference, it doesn't matter who someone is. The first time they hear her sing whatever age she might be at when she recorded whatever they are listening to at the time, people become stunned. Vocally and artistically she is beyond comprehension. But, there's more to it than that. Her genuine soulfulness transforms into a sound of pure love when someone listens to her and their hearts cannot resist. In fact, a person's heart takes over their whole body when she is singing for them (goosebumps, tearing up (with an urge to cry) and finding it difficult to speak normally during or just after she sings and at the same time your head is wondering what in the world is going on? Will it change after you get to know her? Will you become less emotional when you listen to her sing? No. As soon as someone's heart hears just one note of Angelina's voice their heart takes over and their head takes a back seat. It's wonderful that you are reading the comments. Isn't it amazing the affect she has on people from all over the world? No one like her and I don't believe there was ever anyone like her.

If you watch Norway’s Got Talent, which she won at 8 years old, her mom is behind the scenes and at a given point, begins wiping tears from her eyes. I don’t know if it’s true, but I’ve read that she said that she was crying because it was at that moment that she realized that Angelina wasn’t solely hers anymore, the youngster now also belonged to the people.

Reality is she is guiding her parents and has been for her entire life.

It’s not just her voice, this is HER arrangement of this song. Her parents did a great job protecting her from the entertainment industry that came knocking with contracts after her performance on NGT. Mom required her to finish school before launching her career. So much protection around her allowing her to blossom naturally. Check out her song “Shield” that she wrote to honor and give thanks for this protection. Props to you for delaying gratification in order to give us fresh reactions.

As I rewatch your reaction and you were talking about her parents. I thought you should know that realising they had a prodigy on their hands and being an extremely intelligent family they realised the problem straight away. I do not think that when they eventually gave into her pleas to audition for Norways Got Talent( she had been asking from 3 years of age when she saw AGT and Simon Cowel on a trip to the US) that she would actually win. In early interviews it is clear Sara Astar is not thrilled...more thoughtful. Her family are the opposite of stage parents. Trying to give her the opportunities she needed whilst subtly applying the brakes. Her mother, after turning down label after label( including Disney) for years only agreed to sign her with Republic at 14 on the understanding she could not be pushed out till she graduated school. Angelina being Angelina graduated early. Hence the EP at 17....once it was clear who Angelina was, the family set themselves on a crash course learning about the music business. Not trusting anyone else to protect her after so many tales of misappropriated funds by managers. That's how her Uncle Michael became her manager.

Hey, Arias! Nice to see you again so quickly! Yeah - hang on tight, my friend - the Angelina Jordan ride is astounding! So, you want to start early, and move forward (mostly) chronologically? Ok, next you should probably watch her NGT performances (there are 4 of them). Lots of video versions out there - pick ones with subtitles (unless you speak Norwegian). The judges reactions are tremendously heartwarming. I believe, the proper order of her performances is: Gloomy Sunday (her audition), I'm a Fool to Want You (mid-season a Capella performance), Bang Bang (semi-final), and Summertime (final). Each is worth it's own reaction. She was 7 when she started, and barely 8 when she won NGT (with 46% of all votes cast in the final across 10 groups). This is a great place to start from to move forward toward her music today. Cant' wait to see more of your AJ reactions! Peace!

Since it is literally impossible to react to everything she's done in chronological order (since you'd never catch up to the present), I have a few playlists on my channel that you might consider using to hit the highlights from the past 10 years in a reasonable number of reactions. First off, I would recommend "starting" with her entire run on _Norway's Got Talent_ [Norske Talenter]. The best videos to use for that, IMO, are found in my playlist called: * "React to Angelina Jordan on Norway's Got Talent" That selection of videos is sort of midway between a "just show me the songs" no-nonsense approach and a "show me everything" approach (two of the videos have pre- and post-song stuff and two don't) . To take either of those other approaches to her NGT stuff, see my playlist called "Angelina Jordan on Norske Talenter (Norway's Got Talent)" and read the playlist description carefully. After that (or maybe instead of it), some good choices for two quick passes through her entire career are collected in: * "Angelina Jordan: just one song per year" - one video per year, from age 7 to 17 (you've already seen the selections for 9 and 13) * "Angelina Jordan: just two (more) songs per year" - much more "adventurous" than the first list, with no overlap between the two There's also: * "Damn, Girl! - The Best of Angelina Jordan Volume 1" - 22 videos, including a handful of selections not in any of the lists already mentioned * "Catch Up With Angelina Jordan (a short chronology)" - 36 videos, including over a dozen not in the other lists (including some interviews) All of the playlists I've mentioned are at the top of my channel in the first "themed" collection of playlists called "Angelina Jordan recommendations". There are other more narrowly tailored chronological playlists in there, as well as a more extensive list ordered (as I type this) not by performance date but by upload date ("The Many Voices of Angelina Jordan"). However you choose to attack her vast catalog, welcome to it!

Angelina made the decision to not wear shoes during her live performances when she was 6 years old! After I heard her say she won "Norway Got Talent" (NGT) during her interview with Heidi Klum on America's Got Talent, I was pleasantly surprised to see ALL 4 of the songs she performed on NGT are available on KZfaq. Here's a link to her NGT audition, when she was 7 years old, of Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday", which includes a VERY GOOD backstage introduction to Angelina's wish, her family, and the judge's comments even AFTER she leaves the stage. This contains English subtitles: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mpmXhsugnt_KaGw.html Because some people wonder if she's singing in English, and why some of the judges are crying (it IS a sad song), here are the lyrics as sung by Angelina: Sunday is gloomy, my hours are slumberless Dearest, the shadows I live with are numberless Little white flowers will never awaken you Not where the black coach of sorrow has taken you Angels have no thought of ever returning you Would they be angry if I thought of joining you? Gloomy Sunday Dreaming I was only dreaming I wake and I find you asleep In the deep of my heart, dear Darling, I hope that my dream never haunted you My heart is telling you how much I wanted you Gloomy Sunday

As others have said, her parents protected her and supported her every step of the way, but it was her Grandma Mery who was a child prodigy herself as an artist and poet in Iran that guided her and was the driving force. She is one of Angelina's biggest supporters. She is in several of Angelina's videos, and also produced a fair amount of them. She is in this one at the 1:10 mark. Angelina speaks of her often. Mery did the illustrations for the book that Angelina wrote when she was nine, becoming Norway's youngest published author, when she wrote telling about why she is barefoot in all her public performances. Angelina worked with members of this band on several occasions, and they fondly reffered to her as "The Boss" because she knew what she wanted and how she wanted it done. This arrangement was all Angelina, and you can see the produce reading her last minute changes. He said in a later interview that she referred to these changes as "my wishes". OK, I am now a subscriber, and I look forward to MANY more Angelina reactions. (hers are the only reactions I watch)

Angelina Jordan is a music prodigy she started singing at the age of 1.5 years and more than that she started with Billy Holiday Jazz. Angelina sings in 5 languages, designs her own clothes, and has written a top-rated book called "Mellom to hjerter" (Between Two Hearts)"Norway's youngest published author" a story about why she wears no shoes during her performances, and like her name, she truly is an angel with a heart of gold. Angelina won Norway's got talent when her audition for Billy Hollowday's Gloomy Sunday went viral and she got world press she started the competition at 7 years old and won at 8 years old. In her younger years before age 13, she was watched over by her mother (Sara) and her Uncle, a manager, who just wanted her to grow up normal. Her mother and uncle Turned down almost 90% of all requests for her to perform but even so from age 8years to 12 years old or so, she has been all over the world (Her mother and or her Grandmother never more than a breath away) Angelina has produced millions to environmental causes and children's causes around the world. Angelina has produced over 160 covers and 6 originals and she makes all of them her own, all of which will astound you. New people to Angelina get sucked down this"rabbit hole" not believing what they're hearing her excellent vocals and unique way of singing, Angelina is a master at music structure her ability to show absolute recognition to a cover while she makes it her own is just unbelievable. Angelina writes her own music and produces Shield, Million Miles, 7th Heaven, and What is Life. Angelina's mother is Norwegian, and her father is from Sweeden. The " world-known artist'" grandmother (Mery Zamani) on her mother's side is from Iran, and her grandfather (recently deceased) is from Japan both grandparents are very involved with Angelina's growing up, and Angelina's song a million miles is about losing her grandfather and her original cut Shield is about the people that protected her and watched over her during her performances and travels. Although Angelina didn't win AGT Champions 2020 she was signed to Republic record label and is producing new music 7th Heaven, Million Miles, and Save the World she's on her way, after school, to a world market that I'm sure she'll dominate.

it might have already been said, two points, its great your starting your journey with angelna at her young age, which means as you watch her songs and talent and her career as she gets older, turning into the maing young women she is now, singing the classics, and to be honest no one does them better. as you follow her journey, she will become known as the barefoot princess, this is because at her young age, she was on holiday, and saw a little girl weighing people to make some money, but she had no shoes, angelina, gave the little girl her boots, green ankle boots which she wrote in her diary, from that day, she vowed never to where shoes when she performs, until every child in the world has shoes, to this day, angelina still sings barefoot, hence the name the barefoot princess, she is a gift from god, she also won norways got talent at the age of 8 years old, 7 when she auditined, 8 when she won,

Her parents did not have to encourage. AJ knew what she wanted. Of course, her family (specifically her Grandma Mery, Uncle Mike, and mother Sara) allowed her to pursue her ambition with one caveat: school came first! While Republic Records signed her at age 14, they also agreed to wait before aggressively promoting her until she was done with school. Fast forward to now, she is 17 and 1/2, finished with school, and "Old Enough" to begin her career in earnest. Hence, the name of her recently released EP, curiously titled, "Old Enough".

She is a very good role model for kids. work for your dreams concentrate on it, FOCUS, but also enjoy life. If you want something very much, you can get it. Also manners; you can get more out of it, when you are friendly, patient and a bit humble. Yes, I saw her in a rehearsal video, the band did not as she liked, so she went over to the conductor smiling and in a friendly manner she explained exactly how she thought is should be played. OK at this moment she already was the nations treasure, but a friendly face and calm explanation goes a long way to get what you want. I experienced the same, I worked in security in my hometown Zoo for a few years.PEACE

This is the most remarkable performance I've ever seen. It's really fun to watch. There isn't a second of this video where Angelina isn't doing something extremely sophisticated and complicated with her voice. It's almost unbelievable. By this point I already knew how good she was, having seen her NGT performances and some of her live things at age 8. But when I saw she was tackling this crazy-ass song by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, I couldn't imagine how someone so young had even heard of this song let alone want to perform it. Then she gave me this, probably the best version of it I've ever heard. The video is also brilliant, letting us watch this miracle child in all her glory, backed by a really good jazz band. It was at this point that I stopped considering her as a 'very talented child singer' but a brilliant artist. I've been watching her every day for 6 years since. It's great to see new people finally coming around to witness her brilliance. Keep on checking her out; there are almost 200 videos to choose from and almost every one is a masterpiece. You certainly won't regret it. 😎

Sir, do not forget, that at 9 years she already is a veteran. Starting practice age 3,5 doing this almost every day for hours, visiting the music academies of Oslo and later on LA, participating Norways got Talent 2014 at age 7 and winning when she was just 8 yo. Than her "wildest" video. this one. Age 10 saw her with great songs. Age 11 she had concerts in Asia, singing in Seoul Korea in front of 40,000+ people. Age 12 her most famous Concert in front of the Prime Minister of Norway, one of the songs was James Brown´s "It´a man´s world" brought her standing orvations. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fqudatd419Cte58.html For her voice: The good Lord gave her humility, high intelligence and a deep voice. Today we are quite sure that she will reach 4 octaves in her vocal range in a few years. You sir, enjoy life. Elmar from Germany

“Shout out to her parents.” Exactly. They, along with her grandmother Meri, herself an artist and poet child prodigy, realized very early AJ was a musical genius. They carefully nurtured her talent, finding excellent musicians like in this video to work with AJ. They documented and shared with her growing fan base these exquisite moments of her gift while protecting her from exploitation by the industry, many of whom tried in vain to sign her from the time she was 8. They signed with Republic Records when she was 14 on condition they not promote her till she finished high school. Now, at 17 and graduated high school, AJ is “Old Enough” to fly on her own with her recent EP release. Watch out world!

Yeah this was indeed a freaking amazing performance! Indeed only 9 here and singing as if she was in her 30’s. Angelina does so many incredible things with her voice in this song. I have heard it so many times and it never gets old. A bunch of people will direct you to her older work., like you were saying yourself Truth to tell, it is absolutely gorgeous and wonderful to listen to. I would suggest however that a next reaction would be on two fresh originals: ‘Love don’t let me go’ and ‘Now I’m the Fool’. I’ll add links in a comment on this comment: the YT filter is sometimes a bit aggressive to links :-) The reason being that this will give you an idea about the direction she has chosen for herself: it is a retro pop with dashes of jazz, blues and soul and also more modern influences. It is a nice frame of reference when listening to her older stuff. More importantly, do whatever you feel like :-)

Since Angelina’s catalogue contains around 200 original and cover songs it would take you weeks and months to get through all of them. Angelina’s parents have been all in on fostering and supporting Angelina’s love of singing. However, it is Angelina’s grandma, Mery Zamani that has been her greatest creative influence and muse. Nearly all of the videos of Angelina’s 6-14 year old performances were produced by grandma Mery. It was when then fourteen year old Angelina signed with Republic Records in August of 2020 that they produced her studio performances. Grandma, Mery is still involved in the production of her videos. For Example, Grandma, Mery was the executive producer of Angelina’s 2022 cover of Elvis Presley’s song, “Suspicious Minds”. Angelina still takes to Tic Tok to give us abbreviated covers of the songs she likes.

It was a real pleasure to re-experience the shock and awe of this performance by watching it again with you. Angelina was 6 when she gave that little girl the shoes off her feet and made that commitment. In many ways this girl was born an already fully evolved human being. If you look at her first audition on NGT at age 7 compared to her now at 17 she is just a taller version of herself, with the same big hair and exuding confidence and sass,

Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. The spoken language is Norwegian: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bpaWZtdkydOmkp8.html

Thanks for another great reaction to & appreciation of this amazing performance by Angelina (which she also arranged) - at age 9. Btw - English is not her 1st language. Perhaps even more amazing is her audition on Norway's Got Talent singing the Billie Holiday classic Gloomy Sunday - at age 7. (And her other 3 NGT performances were also great: I'm A Fool To Want You, Bang Bang & Summertime.) And why did Angelina go on NGT at age 7? Well she actually wanted to go on when she was even younger, but 7 was the NGT minimum age requirement. Looking forward to more of your Angelina reactions. Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.

I don’t think it was at that exact moment when she decided not to wear shoes while performing but probably not too long after because she was barefoot at age 7 at her audition performance on Norway’s Got Talent.
