I think Angelina studies the lyrics and then performs the song in a way to best tell the story and emotions that the writer wanted to convey, all while respecting the original's musicality. I always feel the emotions of a song when Angelina covers it, often for the first time. There are many iconic songs I grew up with that I knew the words to and would sing along to, but never paid attention to the message of the songs ..... not so when Angelina sings them.

The pianist Rob Christie (music studio director of Republic Records distribution of UMG, two-time Grammy winner) changed the musical arrangement and Angelina changed the vocal arrangement, but she didn't change the lyrics. Angelina changes the lyrical structure starting with the bridge and gives the song a different meaning than Felton Jarvis and Mark James , Angelina version absolutely fits the lyric better. Once again, many people don't hear and understand the song until Angelina tells the story. 👣 💯 *AJ* 💯👣 The producer Felton Jarvis from Elvis Presley cleverly covered this *Mark James song from 1968 in 1969* , Elvis' last #1 hit in the US and #7 of his most successful songs. Felton Jarvis took the original country arrangement completely from Mark James and pushed the song with more speed and additional instruments (wind instruments, violin etc.) and a spectacular backing choir (in the studio version).😊

At 16. Released June 22, 2022. By November, 3.8M views on KZfaq alone. Angelina starts off with the bridge, completely different from anyone else; and then, begins with the opening line of the song. Her beehive hairdo, is in the homage to Priscilla...many photographs of her hair exactly like that. And a leather outfit he later wore. The guitar is the Elvis 1968 "Comeback" Guitar. Rob Christie actually owns this one. The two young cousins, are Uncle/Manager Michael's children. The young girl is her sister, Juliette. Angelina had a framed photo of Elvis in the Service, at the location. Such respect. Rob Christie is on the piano. (Currently Republic Records award winning Studio Director)😇🌺

In the beginning when she takes the dust clothes off Angelina is asking the viewer to sitdown (chair) and reflect (mirror) on the music (piano) as the piano began to play as soon as she uncovered it. Brilliance in the details. Grandma Mery is producer in this video.

I love the way she put the ending lyrics at the beginning of this song. It reminded me of a quote from T.S. Eliot. “What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from.”

Angelina tells stories with emotion. She does not sing to show off and feed her ego with every trick in her repertoire. She is an artist. If she runs they are tasteful. If she belts it's essential. If she puts grit and a dirty texture in the vocals it's because it's needed. If she changes a song she still pays homage to the origional artist. Angelina is loved by her Angels now but we have got used to all her free music output. Now it's time to support her if we want her to achieve the success she deserves.

The baby and very little girl are Angelina's cousins - the preteen girl is Angelina's sister Juliette and the Piano Player is Rob Christie Director of the Republic Records Los Angeles Studio which is the record label that Angelina has been signed with since she was 14 years old.

Elvis did his version in a much faster tempo, and of course had all the Las Vegas lights, dancing and action to it, which is fine. Angelina's interpretation slows down the tempo, rearranges the song structure and gives much more feeling and meaning that the lyrics call for. Truly a masterpiece.

Nice reaction again: thank you!! The co-producer of this music video is Mery Zamani: Angelina's grandmother. She was one of the first who recognized Angelina's exceptional gift and she is involved at almost everything Angelina has done in music till this day. The two do have a very, very, strong bond together.

GREETINGS EARTH GUY: I never felt the music matched the words in Elvis' cover of this song. It seems to me the song finally found its way to the person for whom it was written.

Absolutely phenomenal arrangement from Angelina and her team , the first two little girls in the video are Angelina’s cousins her managers children, the eldest girl is Angelina’s sister Juliette, production input from Angelina’s Grandma Mery Zamani who is a Iranian artist and poet, the Pianist is two times Grammy Award winner Rob Christie the musical director of Republic Records who Angelina signed with at 14 years old, Angelina is paying tribute to Elvis with her black outfit and her red guitar and Pricilla Presley hair style, Cover Of A Cover as the original artist Mark James who wrote and recorded Suspicious Minds didn’t achieve with his original then Elvis Covered the song and it was a hit, great reaction thanks 🙏

Yes the video is very carefully crafted, the uncovering of the chair and the mirror and then the piano bringing some drama to the scene. There is a very liked fan comment from a fan about Angelina - he said that Angelina doesn't cover songs, she uncovers them. So true, she takes a classic song and revels it to us with new life! I was lucky enough to witness her singing this at her concert in Norway last year. Emotions were running high, happy tears were streaming down her face as she sang the opening lines - I dry the tears from your eyes. It felt so intimate, and certainly as good as the studio version, if not better.

Thanks for another great reaction to & appreciation of another masterful performance by Angelina - this time of the well known Elvis hit song. Once again Angelina reinterprets the song in such a way as to allow us to really hear - & feel - all of the lyrics & emotion that this song can deliver. This was definitely a family production - the Executive Producer Mery Zamani is Angelina's grandmother, the 2 youngest girls are her cousins & the older girl is Angelina's younger sister Juliette. It is also a great tribute to Elvis. Angelina's beehive hairdo is reminiscent of Priscilla Presley & the black leather jumpsuit & red Hagstrom guitar are just like Elvis used in his "Comeback Tour". Always look forward to more of your Angelina reactions. Thank you. And may GOD continue to watch over & bless Angelina Jordan.

Her Grandma, Mery Zamani, helped produced this. She used the same store (Melrose Gallery) she used for her My Funny Valentine and I Have Nothing videos. Her sister Juliette was the older girl and the 2 younger girls are her Uncle Mike's kids. 2- time Grammy winner Rob Christie is on piano once again. He is also the music director of Republic Records, the music company she is signed with. The beehive hairstyle was to honor Priscilla Presley and the time period she met Elvis. The black suit and red guitar was a classic look for Elvis from his comeback concert. What a performance and rendition of this Elvis classic! Fun Fact: Angelina got to meet and speak with Priscilla Presley and Austin Butler, the actor who portrayed Elvis in the latest movie, at a private screening event in December 2022.

Alex, in the opening credits you saw that the executive producer is Mary Zamani. Mery is Angelina’s grandma, her greatest creative influence and muse. The two youngest girls are Angelina’s uncle Michael’s children. Uncle Michael is also Angelina’s manager. The middle school aged girl is Angelina’s sister, Juliette. Everything about this production, (from Angelina’s full length leather jump suit, her bee hive hair style to pianist, Rob Christie’s red jump suit) is an homage to Elvis and his 1968 Come-Back Special.

I really like it when she sings without using so much vocal fry, as she does in her ep. It’s great but some softness would have been nice also, as in My Funny Valentine or her TikTok of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas from Dec ‘21. Maybe her full album will contain some songs that will show off the softer side of her vocal abilities.

James/Presley simply got this one wrong. They had good lyrics but they needed an upbeat opener for the big return concert. Not a good paring, except in money terms.
