To be honest in technicality anyone can kill a space marine without a helmet since the brain controls everything a well placed rock could do it

To the Angels credit, he only had to worry about the one secret. The 1st Legion had way more knowledge to keep unknown (and I say this as a loyal son of the Lion).

I like Astorath and how he has to handle the responsibility of the Death Company. But I love the story of him and Gabriel Seth exchanging fisticuffs and Gabriel winning....at least, for the most part

It’s very recently they taught about black rage of course some blood angel’s successor embraces it (Notably Flesh tearers) but usually it’s kept on secret only informed to the high ranks such as chaplain Librarian and Apothecary

It's hit and miss. Only certain rank and file astartes are able to know, and that's usually after they find out first hand. The red thirst is the Greater concern which is why the Blood Angels and Successors create things, a means of keeping the mind and soul in harmony.

I don’t think it’s a secret just that most don’t know all of the details about it. My guess is so they don’t get depressed when they find out a well respected brother didn’t die in glorious combat. Instead he died like a rabid animal who killed several of his brothers before being put down. It’s probably a pride thing and a mercy sparing them the truth instead hoping their brother will pass before he has to find out the uncomfortable truth.

The Black Rage isn't a secret but it's not fully explained to new members of the Blood Angels or their successors. While every Battle Brother knows of the Black Rage only the higher ups in the Chapter know what it truly does.

for the most part (don’t look at the flesh tearers) they are taught that there is a defect in their gene seed known as the black rage and are shown how to prevent it mostly, but aren’t usually explained what it is other than a dangerous power

It’s their armor. Astartes power armor is really bulky, so it makes the actual wearer look smaller in comparison.

It’s like huge body builders. You can build up all your muscles but you can’t increase the size of your skull.

ok that's actually more believable to me than Horus doing it. Sanguinius was loyal, the emperor would certainly hesitate.

The whole Horus's final stand was a bit changed in the new book. He was beating the crap out of Emps because he gave up the warp powers because he was turning in to the "Dark King", the 5th Chaos god who is bad news for the whole galaxy and the rest of the gods. In the end, he uses illusions and trickery and he convinces Horus that he is just a pawn in The Game , so Horus rejects Chaos for a short time, thus making it possible for Emps to finish him off. This time, his soul is not eradicated completely. The whole "Sanguinius putting a chink on Horus's armor" thing is not even mentioned.

That’s the red Thirst you think of, chaplains can guide astartes out of that, once the black rage takes hold, nothing and no one can build an afflicted astartes back from that, it’s permanent, the only thing that can be done at that point is a swift death, which is what the chaplain did, there was nothing else he could’ve done.

@@ALUCARD-us3il there’s literally an extra company in the blood angels specifically for marines with the black rage, and they’re guided by chaplains into battle. And technically speaking it’s not impossible to overcome the black rage but it’s so difficult only one man has ever done it so far.

They have to lock them in the tower of amereo on baal to stop them from hurting other BA. There is a chance that they don't see other Black Rage BA as evil thou.

They aren't Guardsmen. Blood Angels would get wiped out pretty quick if they did that. If they had the means to restrain Lucretius so he could die fighting later they probably would have done that.

To be fair, they are both Blood Angels and this fate may one day be theirs. No point in rushing it. Few astartes reach old age anyway.
